Hi all, have been a long time lurker and finally registered today.

I started to shed when I was around 19-20 but it was never noticible. When I turned 23 (a years ago), things got worse and my hair started to shed more and more. I started takeing finasteride and minoxidil, things didnt improve and I stopped both after six month. About 1 month stopping using both, the shedding slowed down.

I started minoxidil again about 5 month ago (every night, once a day) because I was still sheding a little. I have just started a new job about a month ago. It is pretty high pressure and long hours (consulting, 12h days) and my hair started to shed like crazy and about 3 weeks ago I started to use minoxidil twice a day and the sheding is still continuing. Some of the shedded hair are weak baby hair and some are thicker hair.

I am wondering if minoxidil is making me to shed? Any suggestion or advice is appreciated.

starting and stopping finasteride/minoxidil is not a good idea

get on them and stay on them religiously for at least a year

the minoxidil is almost definitely making you shed

ive been on minoxidil/finasteride for 25 months,i shed here n there but just ride it out, youll be glad you did :)

Are you only shedding or is your hair also getting thinner/receding?

Stick with minoxidil once you have started it....

I agree. Stopping and starting meds is hair suicide in my opinion. When you commit to taking Propecia or Rogaine its for life! Missing applications is like life or death for me. Ive never missed a single application of Rogaine foam or Finasteride in around 3 years. Im shedding alot lately with the foam. Im trying to ride it out but its the worst ive ever seen my hair. I think this website makes you want to go bald faster lol.

I skip a minoxidil application about once weeks, but that´s it.

Thanks for the replies!

My hair line is fine and the hairloss is mostly on the left side. Now my scalp is visible without combing over.

I am sticking to minoxidil and I am not going back to finasteride again.

Is there a rule of thumb on how long the shedding would continue?

Thanks!

If it continues longer than a month id be worried. Ive been shedding for around a month now, the longest ever in my hairloss history and im starting to worry. My hair is visibley worse :(
