Hey guys im a 22 year old male and just recently maybe a year ago noticed my hair loss. As of now i just been taking vitamins (biotin, msm, amd a multi) which havent done much. Also i started using nizoral and a regular conditioner to try and streghten my hair. But all this seems to have no effect. Anyways i went to the dermatoligist and he reccomended me try rogaine before i went on propecia. Problem is that i still have a good amount of hair you can tell its thinning on top when i get out of the shower. But from what i heard rogaine kills all your healthy hair and replaces them with "rogaine hair' which does not look natural and is lighter hair that resembles peach fuzz. Is this true and if thats the case would rogaine make me loose all my natural hair and make me look like im going balder faster? And i would probally be better off not using it? Please anyone that has any experencie with this show me the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you

ok sounds good so basically what your telling me is that the rogaine helps you keep your orginal natural hair, but the new hair that comes in with rogaine is more like a white peach fuzz hair. Nothing like your natural hair and you could see the difference between the two?

bump

I'm thinking about starting up on Min since I recently quit finasteride, but im concerned with the whole "rogaine unnatural looking hairs" thing....also, box apparently says its not to be used on hair line, but i think ive heard differently around here.....thats where i'm losing hairs (top/front/sides) and thats where I wasnt to keep what I have and maybe grow a little more back.... any info would be great

thanks

use finasteride along with minoxidil. minoxidil won't stop your balding. it simply adds hair.

I understand it does add hair, but what type of hair will it add? is it going to add hair that looks natural and blends in with the rest of my hair? Or does it kill my natural hair and grow "rogaine depdent hair" which is not as thich and looks more like peach fuzz...also not the same color as your orginal hair....thats really what im looking to get at

The key to every hairloss treatment is starting early.

Look bro, if you are "not so bald", rogaine will add hair that will successfully blend in with your existing hair. If you are slick bald, it will give you results, but will not achieve the desired cosmetic effect. You'll only grow fuzz.

Secondly, the hair it produces is the SAME color as your existing hair. I have actually grown short terminal hairs with rogaine, not just peach fuzz. Sure, you always start with peach fuzz, and some areas might not reach terminal growth.

Thirdly, the hair looks natural. At least in my case. I've only been on it for 2 1/2 months, then again, I've been on finasteride since february so the two of them might be enhancing each others effect. Thats why people take these two meds together.

And finally, the drawback of using minoxidil (rogaine) is that the hair you grow with it will become dependable on the stuff, meaning that if you achieve good results you'll have to keep taking the stuff to keep your hair. Never heard of that story about rogaine killing your hair, its just that the hair grown with rogaine will go away if you discontinue the regimen.
