Well I'm at the stage where I'm seriously contemplating adding minoxidil to my regimen. I've been losing my hair very slowly for 10 years and as such it is very hard to tell if finasteride is doing it job.

My problem is that it sounds like a lot of work, I'm not lazy about my hair but for me to realistically keep it up for a long time it'd have to fit ok with my routine. I've heard that using it once a day is nearly as effective as twice a day. I was my hair every other day as I think every day is too much, so I was thinking of applying once on the days I wash and twice on the days when I don't. Is this crazy? I'd probably use the foam, is a day's worth of sebum likely to be a problem? My hair doesn't feel greasy after just one day.

thanks :smoke:

your plan sounds ok. try it out. it won't hurt.

i find applying minoxidil in the morning before work, and at night after work, adds about 3 mins to my routine.

Milks, I am sure you read through the gazillion warning about shedding on this and other forums. However, I just want to stress again, if you get shedding in the first few weeks up to about the third month, do not fear because this is actually a good sign that your hair is responding well to minoxidil! My own brother refuses to use minoxidil because the shedding experience was too traumatic for him. He mainly got turned away from the product because of shedding and the argument: the hair you loose on minoxidil might not necessarily grow back!

minoxidil worked for me, but I was part of the lucky few I think. I use it twice a day, with crushed finasteride and keto tablets, which I am about to drop soon following a short 2 week experimental venture. I have absolutely no doubt, minoxidil 5% has helped with my thinning tremendously. I am still bald to on-lookers, but much LESS bald when I started with a diffused NW5a. When I started minoxidil all the shedding didn't bother me one bit, I figured I was going bald, I might as well as go for broke. Nevertheless, I can understand how this could be a dramatic experience for someone with longer hair and or look less bald on the Norwood scale.

Good luck, and don't hope on too much, I think anyone who wishes to start minoxidil must be mentally prepared for some hardcore shedding first, it's the only way you can get your hair back frankly...
