30 year old male here. Never thought this would happen to be but, alas, I suppose I have the gene. About 3 years ago a stylist said - huh - look you are starting to recede. I dismissed it but have started to notice over the last year or so thinking in the front and more increased recession (think early Jude Law). I really woke up when I had my hair short this summer and got my first burn on my scalp. I was getting out of the pool one day and could see the frontal region and back a few inches were thin relative to the rest of my hair and I could easily see scalp.

I've started on Rogaine Foam 5% for the past month. Just a few questions for more experienced users:

1. Typically how long until I see results (I know this can be variable from person to person but what can of time range am I looking at)?

2. I want to make sure I am using it correctly. Typically I apply 3 streaks (SEE RED) to the front going to the back then rub it into the scalp the best I can. Is this the right way to apply it? (PIC IS NOT ME JUST USED FOR DEMONSTRATION) images.jpg

3. I heard some discussion on using Nizoral shampoo? Anyone had luck with this? I am wonder if this would be a good combined regimen.

4. I have a Rx for Propecia and think I will add that in as well. Thoughts?

I suppose I have joined the club... :-/

welcome to the club! ;)

1. You should see results in month 2 or 3. Your hair will grow faster, they will be darker and thicker. That's for the existing hair that you still have. You may never get regrowth but if you do, it should be at around month 4-6. It will be little blonde/pale hair....they will fall and eventually grow thicker/darker.

2. The point is to cover the whole affected area of your scalp. What i do is that put a bit more up front at night and a little bit more on my crown in the morning. Seems to work well. Keep your hair SHORT so it'll be easier for absorbtion...use the very tip of your fingers when massaging and wash your hands after.

3. I use nizoral....4-5 times a week. My scalp is very oily so it does wonder to keep it dry. Most people will use it 2 or 3 times a week, you should start with 2 times a week and see how it goes.

4. I took propecia for 11 months and quit because of sides. Best way is to try if you have sides or not.

Do u still have the what we call here the "male pattern baldness itch"?? I don't and i wonder if it's because of nizoral or minoxidil? But you will see, it will completely go away. I think it is a sign that the products is doing it's job. :)

Good luck.
