I'm 23 years old, have a receding hairline and my crown is looking pretty bad. The whole top of my head is actually. It's definitely male pattern baldness. I'm going to start using Rogaine 2% foam once a day, at night, everyday. I want to start small, that way I can increase dosage and % over time... good idea/bad idea? I'll also use Nizoral 1% two times a week.

What else can I add to this? I won't take any Rx. What's the best supplement, natural DHT blocker, etc. I've heard SP, but is that really the best?

Also, what can I expect from this treatment, not even so much "result-wise" as I'm sure i'll see minimal. But side effects? Will my scalp be ok?

Any feedback is much appreciated... this is driving me crazy.

Minoxidil (Rogaine) should be used twice per day, morning and night. Rogaine is to expensive and Kirkland's minoxidil is the same as the minoxidil that Rogaine makes but it would cost you much less. Look at ebay or amazon for prices.

Minoxidil would stimulate hair growth but if you're losing hair then you'll keep losing hair. You need to start using Minoxidil twice per day, 1gram of Finderstaride and Nizoral 2-3 times per week.

I really appreciate the feedback. However, I won't use Rx. I was reluctant to even include that in my post because I know a lot of other posters don't take you seriously unless you take Rx. I suppose what I'm asking is, is it even worth it to take something else that "supposedly" replaces finasteride? Or are they all crap.

Well, if you're reluctant to take finasteride you can use a topical dht blocker like spironolactone cream.. seriously though, if you want to actually put a temporary end to your hairloss and have a chance at getting some of it back, get on finasteride or dutasteride.

Also, eat broccoli every day, and drink a cup of green tea - will help keep SHBG high preventing any excess DHT from forming. You should also get lots of anti-inflammatory fruits and vegetables in your diet to keep you scalp healthy, eat less meat and dairy (all the animal protein and high cholesterol ups your testosterone), and way less saturated fats (especially from dairy sources such as butter) - and get a healthy amount of cardio exercise in your life (even just walking every day would be beneficial).

If you don't want to take finasteride to block DHT then you could maybe use RU58841 which is a topical DHT blocker. It's an experimental drug and there's a poster in this forum who uses it for years without side effects, you mix the power with alcohol and use it like you use Minoxidil.

Believe me, if standing on your head an hour each day would stop hair loss and stimulate hair growth everybody would be doing it. There is no natural way to block DHT and those who spend their time looking for a miracle cure just lose more hair. Stay with the things that was proven medically.

Also, 2% minoxidil is usually not effective at all. Even women use the 5% minoxidil, the 2% is crap and using it once a day is ineffective and you'll lose a lot of hair while spending your time treating the problem badly. With 5% Minoxidil twice per day you might grow a lot of hair back, but if you hair loss is aggressive you will not maintain your hair without a good DHT blocker.

BINGO!

The secret to hairloss is to increase S.H.B.G.

The best way to increase S.H.B.G. is to go vegan.
