Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself! I'm 31, and noticed a slightly receding hariline around 26, along with thinning hair in the front. I've been taking Propecia now for about 4 months. Haven't noticed any side effects, but haven't noticed any progress yet either. I realize it usually takes 6 months or more to see results.

My question is, is there a bona fide generic version or Propecia, or am I stuck paying the $65 a month for it?

Proscar cut into quarters, much cheaper.

Hey lovemyhair, thanks! I have read conflicting reports that quartering Proscar may not give the same amount of dosage...one quarter may have more and the other may have less. Any thoughts?

It doesn't matter. Roughly 1mg per day is the best dose.
