Ive been reading around the forums and keep seeing "big3" being mentioned, but I cant find anywhere that says what the "big3" actually is. Im guessing propecia and minoxidil is 2 of them, but whats the 3rd? Also, is this "big3" thing the most widely accepted/successful? Im 26 years old, and my hair has been thinning for about 4 years now. Especially my hairline/temples. Its not extremely bad yet, but I have a feeling that it will be in another 5-10 years. I dont ever see any hair fall out, and my shower drain is never clogged, so I guess its falling out slowly. I usually wash my hair twice a day, with cheap shampoo/conditioner, and I havent started any treatment yet. I did order a 3 month supply of procerin today, but then I found this site and read some disheartening comments about it, so I just cancelled my order.

Nizoral Shampoo is the third part of the big 3.

Shampooing twice a day on a constant basis seems excessive. I'd suggest not shampooing the second time around...

The big three is Propecia, Minoxidil, and Nizoral. They are ones that have the most "research" backing them up against male pattern baldness. But, that doesn't mean that other treatments don't work. Those just don't have a lot of research behind them, that's all. Yes I have never really heard anything real good about Procerin, so cancelling was probably the smartest choice. Any more questions........please ask. :)

Significant anecdotal evidence has suggested that Procerin is dissapointing. I have yet to hear anyone on this forum say that Procerin has helped them. That being said, I would stick to the treatments that have actual medical studies that prove their efficacy, namely Finasteride, Minoxidil, and Ketoanalconahole which is the active ingredient in Nizoral shampoo. These three are the Big 3.

You are on the right track. Hairloss meds take time before they start showing results as it takes 3 MONTHS before hair that has been positively affected by treatment to grow enough to even be noticed above the surface of the skin, and could take an additional 3-6 months before you start to reach a critical mass of positively affected hairs to make any sort of a visible difference in your hair's appearance.

Soooo... you have to be patient, and PERSISTENT with your regimen. You will start seeing some positive changes, but continue to be religious with your regimen for at least a year before passing any judgements. Good luck, let us know how it goes.
