hey guys -

i've posted here before .. i'm a diffuse thinner and have been on propecia for 5 years now.. it has stopped my hair loss or at least slowed it down.. over the past few months, i lowered by intake to every other day. recently, i noticed a little more thinning around the frontal area and increased my intake to once a day again. i have a couple of questions:

- will returning to daily intake of propecia help improve my hair as it did previously?
- is avodart fda approved for hair loss? has anyone had more success with avodart than propecia? increased side effects?
- it was recommended that i add a topical antiandrogen like spironolactone.. has anyone seen optimal results when combining the two? does spironolactone irritate the scalp?

I'd really appreciate anyone's input. Thanks in advance!

Actually, what irritates the scalp isn't spironolactone or any other product, but alcohol, etc.
If you buy spironolactone in cream, you won't get any irritation.

Avodart is like a powerful finasteride, so side effects chance would raise (even though Finasteride does not have any, just the forum people have them lol).

LOL. I tried this 4 years ago, when I was getting skint. I tried one day on, one day off with the propecia 1mg merck. Unfortunately, it caused thinning on the temple area.

I believe, everyone has different chemistry in the body. Some will retain the drug a bit longer but not that much.

You should continue taking the drug as advised. Once a day for 1mg.

Never tried avodart as it is not approved for hairloss. Never tried spironolactone either as it is not fda approved for hairloss.

However, does not mean it won't work. But I will stick to the two FDA approved for hairloss as one of them has worked for me for 10 years.
