I wash my hair everyday with hot water an my scalp is always dry. I like having long hair so it gets greasy fast so that's why im always washing it.. Last time i went to get my haircut i noticed that my hair at the sides of my fringe had gone. Ive only just recently noticed it an ive read online something about testosterone being the problem ? Is this true because i do bodybuilding 4 days a week..

This is what my hair looks like at the moment.. It's really messy because im trying to grow it because i hate having short hair with my problem.. It looks even worse now because I have thick hair..
Any help please ??

So sorry but you have textbook style Androgenetic Alopecia. You will probably start noticing thinning in crown soon, if not already early signs there. If you are taking any steroids, then it exacerbates hairloss. Even if you are not taking any such supplement, your hair loss might have been exacerbated by working out strenuously. Workout link with hairloss is unclear but some have reported its negative effect on hair. You have not mentioned your age/group, but I am guessing you are in 20s or so, then finasteride. is something you want to start asap. Ask if you need further information

There is a lot you can do, but you will need commitment, dedication and sacrifice. However, I am not sure if 20 is still too young to get on finasteride. which is one of few proven options that are easily accessible. But I would highly recommend you see a dermatologist who knows about hairloss and see if he approves that you can start on finasteride.

There is also an option for minoxidil easily avaiable, but you will have commit to it twice a day for as long as you want to keep your hair. I would prefer you start with finasteride. because it is more promising with great results and is easy just to pop a pill and forget about it. finasteride is also something you need to commit to, use it religiously, and trade off some sexual and other side effects, if any.

Do not hesitate to talk to us if you have any more questions

Ok thanks. If i started on minoxidil though, does that mean i have to stay on it for life?
I hope i can continue bodybuilding aswell since ive read somewhere that testosterone can cause it. Ive only just recently lost 6 stone an now im trying to gain as much muscle as possible an fill out. I seriously dont wanna give that up...

Yes, minoxidil is for life, you quit you lose in weeks and months what you may have gained.

We usually recommend finasteride. because it stops the root of the problem which is dht "hammering" the follicles to miniaturize, and is quite effective. T is converted to dht and dht is the culprit. However, there is a debate that T also affects frontal hairline directly but nothing conclusive.

If you take supplements like DHEA which increases T. levels, and in turn increases dht, then that causes exacerbation in hair shedding. So, you might wanna stop taking any T supplements and just continue regular exercise

Just wondering does caffeine affect hairloss ?
Also does anyone know if a supplement can cause hair loss ? The supplement has been banned by the FDA for causing heart attacks because apparently it mimics the effects of amphetamines. I didn't know it was banned though untill recently.. It has an ingredient called DMAA in... Also could thyroid problems be a issue with hairloss ?

I went to hospital a few weeks back because i had an anxiety attack.. They said everything was fine an my blood levels were normal.. I went to hospital yesterday an told the doctor about my hairloss an trouble sleeping an stress. She said the hospital was wrong. My blood levels wasn't normal, they were a bit high an i might have an overactive thyroid... Anyway i went for another blood test yesterday an im now awaiting the results...

I just feel so depressed. I was struggling with weight issues my entire life.. After losing 6 stone 6 pound i ended up with lose skin. Started bodybuilding to tighten it up.. Now at the age of 20 my hair line is receding, in the past few weeks ive been to A&E an hospital for blood tests.

I dont have a job at the moment an everytime i get an interview i have anxiety problems an i cant think straight when the employers ask me questions...

I seriously cant wait go back the doctors after i get my blood tests back... Im going straight on anti depressants...

I like having long hair so it gets greasy fast so that's why im always washing it..

I've heard that the more often you wash your hair, the greasier it gets. Or at least it gets greasier quicker. Not sure how much truth there is to that though

btw what is the supplement you're taking? It's not Khat is it? Because that was banned in the UK today.

It's called APS Mesomorph. It has DMAA in it... But I have only just found out in these past few weeks. The night i had the anxiety attack i stopped taking it. It was a hot day though an i was dehydrated..

Just wondering does caffeine affect hairloss ?

Actually, some studies have shown it regrows hair when applied topically. It is just a guess that drinking coffee would benefit hair somewhat. There are also shampoos with caffeine available; so it is generally good for hair. I read somewhere on these forums that some are actually buying caffeine on ebay dirt cheap and mixing it with their shampoos. Solid reliable results are not known to me on this.

Let's know if your doctor thinks your hairloss is due to or exacerbated by hyperthyroidism; and/or if your hairloss is not Androgenetic Alopecia

Blood tests are now showing normal. So it must have been the supplement..

How bad does it really look ? And what will be the best thing to help me regrow my hair ? Thanks !

It looks ok at that length, just get on finasteride and maintain this.

Your hair is still very thick.
