need question answered about phases of hair!?

I'm wondering how hair loss works exactly.

I'll use me as an example...

I noticed that the hair at my hairline is shorter than the hair about an inch behind it.
does this mean that the hair at my hairline has stopped growing and is about to fall out?? :freaked:
