Ok I'm 22 noticed hair loss at 21. So I started taking minoxidil 5% almost 4 months ago and my hairloss has gotten exponentially worse, I thought that if I started now it wouldn't be as bad later but it seems its just advanced my hair loss by several months/years. I know that losing hair in the first few months is normal but from everything I've read it seems to say you should start seeing results at 4 months and I definitely have not, I'm just shocked at how bad its gotten in such a short amount of time. Should I just abandon the last 2 months and I have left of treatment or just finish it off and hope for the best? This is very depressing :sobbing:

Keep it up for at least 9 months/ a year before you decide anything.

Also, you need to add a DHT-blocker like finasteride to maintain in the long term.

I really don't won't to take any pills that have sexual side affects especially at only 22.

An article about sexual sides and finasteride : http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3481923/

"To date, there is no evidence-based data substanciating the link between finasteride and persistent sexual side effects in the numerous double blinded, placebo controlled studies using finasteride 1mg for hairloss".

Ten year study : http://www.haargroeispecialist.nl/resources/product-files/files/Finasteride-10-year-follow-up.pdf

86% of patients remained above or at baseline.
3.4% of patients reported erection problems. No control group here (placebo).

It's your call. You can also try RU58841 or spironolactone cream, or continue taking minoxidil and wait a few years until CB-03-01 is available on the market, but I wouldn't bet everything on minoxidil alone.

Don't listen to DPS, he is not very knowledgable. Don't worry about the side effects, you'll be fine.

finasteride only has 2% chance of temporary sides and you are guaranteed to lose your hair without it. Really a no brainer if you care about your hair....

Stay on minoxidil, do not stop it. It cannot make your hair worse in the long run

With every visit online(message forums, youtube, etc) more and more get frightened away from using the most effective weapon in our arsenal against hair loss. I have even read about people giving up the drug after having 10+ years of success. I used to get into arguments all the time about the safety of the drug, but it just seems useless. Too many just gravitate toward the horror stories. I use it and have been side free for a little over a year. The reality of the situation is if I let the horror stories get to me I have two options: 1) accept going slick bald, 2) get fitted for a piece.
