I'm new to these boards. Have been reading and studying for 3 months now and not sure what to do. I just turned 30 and just really noticed my hairloss less then a year ago. I have receeding hairlines, and some thinning on the top. I am currently using rogaine foam just on my temples (on the skin and a little into the hairline) and revivogen at night. I do have an order of fincar that I have not started yet and I am very hesitant. Its only been about a month, and I have read an enormous amount on revivogen, but just wondering your opinion. Should I quit it and go on to fincar? I really haven't noticed any shedding yet, but my top is thinning pretty quickly. Should I give revivogen the required 3 months to see anything, or is it not worth it? Sorry no pictures yet. What is my best option?

Revivogen, like any DHT or 5alpha reductase inhibitor, takes a very long time to kick in. That's assuming revivogen actually works. Dr. Rassman, of baldingblog.com, firmly believes that topical use of DHT inhibitors is near worthless. Ask yourself this, why hasn't revivogen marketed its product as a pharmaceutical instead of as a cosmetic?

Two FDA treatments PROVEN to increase hair count: Rogaine & Finasteride.

PS fourth day on finasteride and I did the deed 3X in the past 12 hrs with the SO. No trouble yet with performance  , although I do feel vaguely less sexual in general.

I would encourage you to not use generics purchased online, but that is my own personal opinion and you know what they say... opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. Is your Fincar from a US or foreign pharmacy? Id' just hate for you to go on a fake generic for 8 months and think finasteride doesn't work and give up on medical intervention because some a**h** in india was out to make a buck...

Lol, do you feel as though you are not getting your money's worth from Propecia unless you remind everyone how you can sleep safe and soundly at night because you didn't buy online generics?

There's a ton of people on these forums who have maintained/regrew hair on fincar/finpecia, but I don't see them cackling about it and trying to point out to everyone that they saved a boatload of $$. I think most just feel fortunate they found a less costly alternative that works given their monetary or health coverage situation. :dunno:

OK...I bit the bug and started my fincar!! Started on 8/8/08--shouldnt be too hard to remember that date. My fincar is from India...little concerned about it...but will continue to monitor. It will be difficult though since my hair loss and shedding is that dramatic yet. I do have thinning but it's not noticable yet.

Few more questions....
Should I continue to use my revivogen at night while still on rogaine (temples) nizoral (2-3x week) and nioxin (for thickening of hairs) the other days....and now fincar. I have 2 1/2 month supply of revivogen left. Or should I quit it completely since on propecia?

Don't feel like searching much today...but probably a redundant question. What is the best way to split up the fincar? My first pill...I have been just biting off a corner..trying to have equal 1/5ths of the pill. Im not sure I want to do 1/4 as that would be 1.24mg and no sure I want the higher chance of sides.

Thanks for the help

I haven't paid a dime for propecia yet, but I don't trust internet websites blindly. It is a buyer beware market.
