right now i use 5% minoxidil at night only followed by retin-a and scalp roller

i want to make minoxidil for morning applications only and it's very important that he won't be greasy if its possible

i want to mix it with polysorbate 80 and emu oil that i already have in my drawer

what is the ratio between the minoxidil emu and poly 80

thanks in advance :punk:

That could be a really tough one, especially if you want to put oil in it. A lot of people claim that the Rogaine foam is the best as far as styling is concerned. I also heard that it doesn't stink, making it ideal for mornings. I don't know how you'd incorporate the emu oil into the foam though. Someone should be able to help you in here. We have a lot of people who are into home chemistry.

why don't you just use 2% minoxidil? that's what I do.

I use both 2 and 5 % minoxidil depending on the situation. If I have to go out quickly I use 2% because it has higher alcohol ration meaning it dries quicker and it could be as effective because it's absorbed quicker.

t devil - i talking about liquid minoxidil i had bad history with the foam

ali - if i want quick drying minoxidil i would try dr lees minoxidil

i want the emu oil because of good penteration proporties and the polysorbate to make the solution solid

You can't use anything you want! It must be compatible with minoxidil. In other words the minoxdil must dissolve in the solution, remain stable and be moderately absorbed to be effective. You need to consult with a pharmacologist if you want to make changes to the original formula.

Bryan made an interesting post on the effectivity of alcohol and PG %.
(do a search for Bryans post)
http://www.hairlosstalk.com/interact/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=42194&hilit=+minoxidil

and I remember reading that PG was used in a higher amount because among other things it gave the commercial solution a longer shelf life.

Old Baldy who is a vet with allot of experience with topicals dilluted his greasy Kirkland minoxidil with perfumers blend or alcohol/ethanol dilluting the 5% to a 3% if I rememer correctly.. he said this mix was much better for daytime use as it dried quicker.... (do a search on his posts)

you could try this as an alternative to Lee´s minoxidil.
