Hey guys, so I've been taking a generic brand of propecia for two months now. I did research on the generic brand to ensure it was legit and it seemed to be fine. However. I've recently just purchased more generic propecia but instead what arrived was something called Forpecia-5, I've tried researching this but can find absolutely nothing about it and it's causing me to worry about its legitimacy. Not to mention the fact that I was expecting 1mg finasteride tablets but received 5mg tablets. Have any of you heard of or taken this generic pill? Is there any dangers in switching from generic pills all the time?

Thanks guys

contact the company's customer service if you're concerned about whether its fake

why would they
They won't openly admit whether or not it is a fake, so if it's a fake they will say it's real and if it's real they'll say it's real. The lack of any information regarding this generic is really concerning. I'm coming to the end of my legit generic supply and will soon have to take these.

why wont they admit it? If fakes are stealing their business that's something they will be concerned about

Hi, I don't understand how someone can order a drug from a non reputable source in the first place. Why not going to a local doctor, getting a prescription for the 5 mg finasteride pills, pick them up at the local pharmacy and then just quarter the pills? This should be the cheapest *and* the safest method IMHO. regards Kater Kahlohr

Sadly doctors/dermatologist vary on opinion on when or if at all they should prescribe finasteride.

As a 20 year old I feel as though the doctor wouldn't prescribe it to me as I have no real problem, just the natural process of balding is happening.

But say if you were a company supplying fake drugs and I asked you. You wouldn't say they are fake, you would tell me they are real because you want the business. So if the company is fake then they're still going to tell me it's real.

@TD500:

I see. And I also understand that there is no time to lose when it comes to treating male pattern baldness. But I'm quite positive that sooner or later one *would* find a doctor who's willing to prescribe finasteride. In the meantime, I think it is OK to order some finasteride from a not so "legitimate" source, using common sense of course, but long term (and finasteride is a long term commitment) I would definitely try to find a prescribing doctor. Here in germany where I live I never had a single dermatologist deny me a prescription, although not too many prescribe the 5 mg pills, but at least the 1 mg pills. It may also depend on ones age, I was 22 or 23 when I got my first prescription (Original Propecia). Maybe the key is to appear to the doctor as an "educated" patient who has done his research on the drug and knows all the pros and cons.

It's something I will definitely look into for the future. Thanks for the advice.

the suppliers and producers are not the same people. Costco, Walmart, inhouse, alldaychemist, etc don't make the drugs. Merck, dr reddys, glaxo etc are producing them. These companies don't produce fake drugs, fake drugs are sold by unreputable suppliers and not made by the producers of drugs. So yes if you got fake drugs that is very bad for the producers
