Hi

Nice forum, glad to see people helping each other

I have a problem that is causing me a lot of worry and is getting out of hand. It’s all coming from my hair loss.

Been debating getting rid of my remaining hair for a while now but I gotta admit I am kinda scared. I am 29, my hair started falling out a few years back and I just started letting it grow longer to hide it. I have lost so much on top now that it's quite obvious that I am hiding baldness. I have very little from the front all the way to the back.

My main worry is that I have quite a large head and I am slightly pale and also not in great shape so I have a bit of a fat face. These things are making me really paranoid about looking awful with a close cut buzzed or fully shaved head. Any advice is welcome as I know something has to be done but I am really worried. I know people say things like “look at bruce willisâ€￾ or other people, but they are rich movie stars and we all look different.

Any advice

Thanks
Ronnie

There's only one way to find out....GO FOR IT!

If you want to try and re-grow hair, then propecia is your best bet. But, more power to you if you decide to rock the shaved head. I wish I could pull it off, but I can't...so I'm probably goin to be poppin finasteride for the rest of my life...

What changed your life months before you started losing hair? New job in the office?

Well the hairloss is not sudden. From early teens I had slightly thinner hair than most kids, but in no way was it noteicable. When I hit about 18 it started to show slightly so I would just grow it another centimetre or so and that would completely hide it. After that it just slowly got worse. I do get angry and stressed at times over the past few years and maybe that has accelerated things but thats just me.

I tried minoxadil for about 6 months and got a few extra hairs but no results worth bragging about. Also looking at some of these regimens for possible regrowth makes me think that it's not for me. Also I just couldnt afford the monthly bill for all the stuff.

I am annoyed at the way I am hiding it now as its not fooling anyone and I know it, but I dont think I could put up with anyones abuse about my head if I shave it / close buzzcut it. Like I originally said I am not blessed with a beckham style head that looks good buzzed. I just dont know if I am prepared to look radically different forever and suddenly be the "baldy" one of the group. Thinking about it really gets me down at times but I think that a close buzzcut is ineviteable. I just wish I never had such a huge patch of bare scalp. It's right from front to back.

Anyway, sorry about the long post but I really would like all your opinions and maybe hear from a few guys who have had to do this themselves.

I need some motivation to get my clippers and buzz it off(maybe get drunk)

Thanks
Ronnie

When i feel annoyed about male pattern baldness, i like to remind myself the greatest singer in the greatest band has been bald since his early 20's, even kept it long for a while while it was going. (Maynard James Keening of Tool). Though some ppl dont know this because he constantly wears wigs, not to have hair, but just so noone knows what he looks like, (and possibly cos hes a nutjob, a genius, but also eccentric.)

he didnt let it affect his music or his fame, and probably would give a big f.... u if anyone gave him crap about it.

so shave it, and hold ur head up high, if someone insults u , or girl turns u down, just tell them to piss off, and go about ur life. It will only depress u, if u let it, and i find most ppl that r depressed about male pattern baldness, were just as negative b4 they lost it, and if not bald, theyd be complaining about something else.

Sure, me saying this might not help, but face it, u can either move past it, and get on with ur life (which can be just as fulfilling without hair) or u can sit in a corner crying 'why me' the rest of ur life.

U probably have all ur limbs, dont have cancer, and have a fridge full of food, and clean drinking water. Thats more than half the people on this planet have.
U could die tomorrow. start living ur life, and be grateful for it.

I dont mean to sound harsh. Dont give up on a cure, just dont become bitter about it.

It gets easier as u get older and ur friends all start to catch up in terms of hairloss. also females care less and less about it as they get older to.

Theres someone on regrowth forum who answers every post with something like, 'there is no cure, nothing works, f.u.c.k this curse', and frankly im sick of hearing things like that.

Shave ur head, join a gym, learn a musical instrument, ask the hottest girl out that u can find, respect urself, be confident (but not a prick) and live a great life. U dont need hair to do these things. If u stay calm and collected, u wil learn to show empathy for a person when they insult u. Instead of getting offended, pity the loser who has to put down others to make themselves feel better.

I hope this is the motivation u needed. Get past it, or let it ruin ur life.

Pretty strong words anxious. But probably true, apart from me being bitter about something else before hairloss.

Really thinking hard about just going for it.

I would buzz it and start using the "big 3" and see what you can get. Try it for 12 months and then re-evaluate how your hair looks. If there's not much improvement, then I'd say to buzz it and rock the chrome-dome.

Thanks for the detailed input, ronnie. I'm collecting data on aggressive hair loss because possible causative factors are easier to spot and may provide some clues on slow progressions.

We know that there are times when hair loss is more aggressive in some men. To others, even when there are already obvious signs of slow progression much earlier, there are times along the way when hair loss seem to be aggressive too.

It is the events or, in particular, major changes in life that occurred months before this aggressive hair loss began which I'm particularly interested in.

Do you guys know where I can get these products at the best price. I dont have much spare cash each month so it could be difficult.

Also to the guy who asked about causes or life changes. I guess things accelerated a bit when I hit about 20 and started my current job, been there 10 years now. It's quite demanding due to the attitude of some people there and I guess that does get me really stressed and sometimes very angry. But whether it's that or genetics I dont know. My dad has lost some hair but he is in his fifties and still has plenty left so it's not noticeable and my uncles are all ok. So I am not sure.

I suppose I just wanna make a move either way soon because worrying about it is just a waste of time.

PS: been looking at people with shaved heads all week to get an idea of what I could look like. One reassuring thing is that there are far more cleanheads out there than I thought.

Thanks for the replies so far :)

http://www.4rx.com/online-pharmacy/cate ... pecia.html

I've been taking Finasteride from them for the last 3 years. My hair loss went from 200 hairs a day to about 25, so I know it wasn't just a sugar pill or something like that. They have online support for questions, and they told me this: "We have more than one supplier for the same medication and we ship out according to the availability of the stock. We carry generic Propecia manufactured by GenPharma, Sunrise, Cipla and Intas Lab Pvt."

If you're worried about budget, then I would suggest going for 90 1mg caps first. If you don't have a problem with sides then make your next order the 5mg caps and you can quarter them (1.25mg) to save some money.

2 money saving tips if you go there...
1: Let's say you want 90 caps. Add the 30 caps to your cart instead. It will take you to a checkout page, but it will also give you a chance to upgrade your order to 90 pills for $7 cheaper. Same goes for if you want to get 360, add 180 to your cart first

2: Use the promo code Q52EM37T during checkout for another 10% off. That's my promo code that I got for being a return customer, so feel free to use it :)

They also have a price-match guarantee, so you really can't go wrong :-D

Here's my story, so you know that I'm trying to sell you on the product...not the website :)

Actually reading that it didn't sound harsh at all it actually sounded quite positive overall.

All sound advice, and the bit about it getting easier as your friend catch up very true.

If you've got a bit of fight in you though i wouldn't give up on the big three, you might be surprised by what you can achieve you may also be able to add some concealer as well.

Ok, got all my stuff ordered, minoxidil, finestaride and nizoral. Wish me luck guys. If things dont get significantly better in 6 months then its out with the shaver.

Yes, for sure. Take pics, but don't go crazy and obsess too much over them. You need something to compare it to 6 months from now.

Also, remember that no further hair loss is also a success!

Finally all of my stuff arrived. Got minoxidil, finestaride and some nizoral shampoo. The pills I got are the 5mg version so I will be quartering them. Is there an easy way to do this? I done it with a sharp knife but it wasnt exactly accurate, would a little more or a little less each day cause any harm?
