Hi everyone,
Now, I know I'm going to seem like a total A-hole for coming on here with a good amount of thick hair still on my head, but I've recently noticed some thinning in the frontal area, especially the temples. I'm 21, turning 22 in 2 months, and I've come on here to get some opinions on my hair loss and whether I should go on finasteride. I've done a tonne of research on hair loss over the last few months, and even now I still feel as thought there's a chance I may not specifically have male pattern baldness. But at the same time, there's clearly thinning and recession of my hairline, so I think it's male pattern baldness at a relatively slow pace. My hair behind my hairline and temples (crown) is quite thick, with no signs of thinning at this stage. It's really quite odd because I seem to have it pretty good in comparison, but of course I don't know how long this will last.
So, finasteride. I know that if I go on it I'll be stopping it quite early and I should be able to regrow my temples and have a healthy head of hair again. Of course I'm worried about the side effects as they have been well documented, but I'm also worried about what would happen if I went off finasteride after I tried it. Say I take it for 3 years, and I decide to stop. Will the hair I've grown that is reliant on finasteride fall out and leave me at the stage I would have been in 3 years have I not used finasteride? Or will all of my hair suddenly become reliant on it and my male pattern baldness will progress at a more rapid speed? Because right now, I'm happy with what I have, but I know this won't be forever. Hell, it may not even be this good by the end of the year. I hope this is clear, but if it's not, just let me know where you require clarification.
Thank you guys for reading! Pics are below.
