Need Advice From The Pros

Hey guys,

I'm a 23 year old male, have been losing hair for a while now. Now its getting to a point where it's pretty obvious I'll end up like my DAD who is bald. Upsetting? YES.

So a year back I didn't want to use propecia because of the sideeffects. After searching on the internet I came across procein (which claimed to have similar results) well I ended up wasting hundreds of dollars on it with no positive effects.

Now I really want to stop this, I know it's kinda impossible but slow it down to the max atleast?

I'm thinking of ordering Rogaine and Nioxin, but before I order them I want some advice from you guys. Is there anything you guys recommend besides the two I stated above. Should I do something different? Go for something else which I'm not aware of?

I WANT MY HAIR BACK :( my head doesn't look that bad at the moment but I'm sure if it keeps going like this I'll end up proper bald in a few years.

Much appreciated!

If you believe you are going to end up completely bald, and want to do something about it, you should start taking Propecia. I would also incorporate Rogaine. Without those two together, your chances of beating aggressive hairloss are slim to nil.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I heard some terrible stories about propecia that even after stopping it completely the side effects last. So I'm just a little scared or else I would have bought it way back

And Slim just left town...

Umm, listen to timbo and just pray you respond positively to those treatments. As for the Nioxin, I use it on days I dont use Nizoral shampoo: it doesnt grow new hair but it appears to make your existing hair look thicker and fuller.

Hmm ok
I think I'll go for propecia then. I was checking their site and it says I need a doctors prescription for it? Is there any other way to order it?

Make an appointment with your family doctor for Propecia. It might be in your best interest to ask for the generic version of proscar to save money. Proscar is a prostate medication that has the same active ingredient, but at a higher dosage. All you have to do is cut the pills in fourths. With health insurance, you can probably pay roughly $10/month, instead of Propecia's ridiculous price. Some doctors won't prescribe proscar for hairloss, just make sure you tell them that you plan on cutting the pills in fourths to approximate the correct dosage.

Hey,
First of all I don't have health insurance and I don't want to pay the doctor a fee of 60-70 bux just to get him to write me the prescription. Is there any way else to get hold of propecia through the internet or something? I don't mind generic either, please link me if you can.

Anyone?

With regard to shampoo, I'd say stay away from Nioxin. I actually stopped using mine seriously after I looked into its ingredients, and read many reviews on it, getting a consensus. I ended up turning my bottle into a Bell jar experiment, adding Macha Green Tea Powder, Biotin, and extra Nettle Extract to it in a last ditch effort to make it effective.

The only thing going for Nioxin (on paper) appears to be Zinc Ferment, and Urtica dioica (Stinging Nettle), which while ostensibly good, isn't enough to warrant its price, and apparently most people aren't thrilled with its results. The rest of its ingredients are a proprietary blend of snake oil and voodoo IMO.

Stick with a known and efficacious shampoo like Nizoral or Revita. Forget the Alchemy. Ketoconazole is proven.

Guys I came across this site

http://allaboutpropecia.com/?aid=9096&s ... ecia-cheap

Propecia is like 0.48 a pill here 90 pills are for like 50 something after shipping.
I was looking at the 1mg pills though, are those the ones I need?

@dht hater
Yea I didn't order nioxin but ordered the nizoral and rogaine.

1 mg is the standard prescription dose most guys are on. I've actually read in a few places there is no difference between 1 and 5 mg dose. In any case you wouldn't want to *start* at 5 mg, you start at standard dose, and work up over time (if at all). Keep in mind many dudes just stay on 1 mg for 10 + years.

Thanks a lot for you reply, I went on the link I posted the pills are cheap and addordable, but when I tried to order it says

Propecia
90 pills x 1 mg (Generic)

"generic" - is it the same thing as the original propecia will the results be the same? I'm a total newbie when it comes to meds.
