Need a final answer on finasteride

Guys I am so lost. I took propecia to just maintain my hair. Had no issues with density or anything like that, but right side of hairline started to recede. Took it and at the one year mark, my head hurt like crazy, had MASSIVE SHED, itching, burning, All that good stuff. It's now been 1 year and six months and my whole scalp feels sore when I run my hands through my hair not to mention my hairline is itchy as hell. I don't know if I'm just not a responder or maybe finasteride f***** my hormones up.. But Literally EVERYTIME I run my hand through my hair, I'll have 3+ around my fingers.

I had two doctors tell me to quit but I don't know if somehow it maintained something ( even though I'm shedding from all over).. When the shed started, I did have a slightly increased sex drive that has since disappeared somewhat but I'm still pretty horny.. Long story short, I haven't seen one positive result on propecia and need guidance. I've been shedding since November, 2 of those months were insane where I was losing 200 hairs in the shower.

If you havn't seen a single positive result from finasteride after a year and 6 months, my advice is you move to dutasteride or drop it completely and try other options like RU.

Make sure you're taking genuine brand drugs and not some generic c***.

Go for Dutasteride 0.5mg EOD or three times per week. Check Nickypoo's thread in the success stories section; he took Dutasteride EOD ONLY and had amazing regrowth.

Also, I would recommend you use Minoxidil 5% twice per day as this and a DHT inhibitor have a synergistic effect on your hair. Take pictures and track progress man! We're all gonna make it

Do you get flakes or dandruff where the scalp burns?

I was using generic dr reddys when this happened.. I'm hesitant to make the switch to dutasteride because of another shed being at stake. This last shed really robbed me. I lost soooooo much ground on the left hairline from it.. Such a let down, but I'm scared that it was somehow from the testosterone boost that finasteride gives after a year.. If I use dutasteride, won't I have even more testosterone ??

Yes, but only a nominal increase.

are you referring to finasteride and min? Generic finasteride and min works just fine and is much cheaper.
