How long does it take you grow 0.25 cm (a quarter of a centimeter) in nail length?

use the scale below:
centimeter2.gif

I noticed that I started cutting my nails less often after I noticed I was thinning. When I went on saw palmetto (say 4 months after my initial, faint signs) my nails started growing like crazy and i went from cutting them every ~2.5 weeks to every 1 week (like when i was in my early-mid-teens! i'm 20 now).

And when I quit saw palmetto (cuz i finally got proscar, not because saw palmetto 'wasn't working') my nails stopped growing as fast (back to cutting every 2.5 weeks now, been on finisteride for 5 months now.. not good results).

anyway, maybe there is a relation between nail growth and hair growth, especially the production of hairs (they're both 'dead' cells, right?)

just write down when you usually cut them and how long they usually are... i know the popular opinion on saw palmetto, so no need to call me a fool please lol

What UP!

Ok, so your fingernails and toenails are made of the protein keratin.. They normally grow about an eighth of an inch a month, which is somewhat faster than your toenails do.

Now your hair, guess what, is made up of the same thing.

If you look back at when your nails grew faster was there a change in your diet compared to now. Try taking a tablespoon of olive oil a day, and get back to me in two weeks. :)

As far as a relation goes, this is all that I see.

To tell you the truth, I dont have any "science" behind it. My mom is in the medical field and always talks to me about the benefits of olive oil. I have been taking a tablespoon every night and seems to be helping my nails and hair. I figure why take more crap when you can give the good old folk medicine a try. Plus its loaded with good stuff....

OLIVE OIL

Olive Oil is a complex compound made up of fatty acids, vitamins, microscopic bits of Olive and other water soluble components. Its primary fatty acids are oleic and linoleic acid. Oleic acid is monounsaturated and makes up approximately 55-85% of Olive Oil. Linoleic is polyunsaturated and makes up about 9% of Olive Oil. It also contains a small amount of saturated fat. Olive Oil's polyunsaturated fatty acids lower both LDL and HDL levels in the blood. Its monounsaturated fatty acids on the other hand control LDL levels while raising HDL levels. No other naturally produced oil has as large an amount of monounsaturated fat as Olive Oil - mainly oleic acid. And furthermore, the modest amount of well-balanced polyunsaturated fatty acids in Olive Oil is well protected by its own natural antioxidant substances.

Maybe I'll give it a try. I just started taking hempseed oil, 1 tablespoon a day, it is supposed to be the most balanced fatty acid to take. All the fatty acids in it, omega 3, omega 6, omega 9 are supposed to be very balanced for the human body.
Maybe you should ask your mom if she knows anything about hempseed oil and tell me what she says. Tell us that is.

I would watch your nail clippings around these parts. I hear tynan likes to use them for his bizarre "gay voodoo" ceremonies.
