Hi all, I am a 28 year old male with male pattern baldness. I have thinning of frontal hair which has basically stayed the same for last 3-4 years. I have been lingering around these forums for a year now first unregistered and then as a registered member.
First of all, I want to share I am a 5'2" male with an average body and thinning hair makes it even worse. I've always had a strong libido so I decided to give finasteride a try. I bought 2 months' supplies of Finpecia 1 mg in Aug'13 and went through for about 5 weeks without anything noticeable. And suddenly, one day I woke up 4 AM in the morning with a racing heart and cold sweat. That condition lasted till about 6 AM. This was a first and was enough for me to throw away the balance pills.
And as time went by, I started telling myself that it may not be a side effect and just a one-off instance. So, I started again with finpecia 1 mg in Feb'14. Two weeks on the pills, I had palpitations and uneasiness during a flight take off. And last Tuesday morning the same symptoms resurfaced with a vengeance pushing my pulse to around 160 and what seemed like high BP. I went to the doctor in the evening still fraught with a bit uneasiness and slightly high pulse. ECG was normal, heart rate and BP were a bit high. I also told him about finasteride which he dismissed as a possible cause. He prescribed a pill and asked me to come back after a week and also asked me to get my ECG etc done the next time I get palpitations. And I had minor problems on both Wednesday and Thursday mornings but it really went bonkers on Friday night after dinner. So, I got myself admitted to an ER. The BP was like 200/130 and I was chilly as hell yet sweating. I though I was gonna get an attack. To my surprise, the ECG was still normal as per the doctor. I was in the hospital for 3 days and they ran numerous tests on me, all of which were normal including cholestrol, 2d echo etc. All three days, I had recurring chest pains and uneasiness, chills a couple of times and even shoulder spasms. They dubbed me accelerated hypertensive and discharged me yesterday. I am on rest and medication for a week now. I'm still uneasy probably because of medication or possible mental trauma. Needless to mention, I'm done with Finasteride now. I only hope that these effects go away and never come back.

Am I alone in this or has this happened with anybody else?
