I am a 20 year old male suffering from total hair loss.
It first started when I was 5, I got some bald spots but then my hair grew back.
I had it treated by a homeopathic doctor who gave me a homeopathic medicine.
I got some bald spots again when I was about 10, my parents tried to find the same doctor who had treated me before but he had gone back to his native country India.
I took the same medicine he had given me before and my hair grew back.
Then in 2005 I got a small bald spot, as the days went by the number of bald spots increased.
I tried hiding them by growing my hair long, but then the spots became so big that I could not hide them anymore.
I then had my hair shaved off as I would look really weird in public having patches of hair.
Slowly I then lost all my facial and body hair as well.
About 2-3 years ago my hair slowly started growing back.
My eyelashes and eyebrows are back now, I get small hair growth on my chin as well, along with a few mustache hair.
My head now has 50-60% hair, I do not know what contributed to the hair growth.
I have seen many doctors and homeopathic specialists as well, but none of them has been able to help him.
Also people told me all sorts of things to try, rubbing onion on the head, garlic, raw meat, rock salt, burnt egg, seawater and pepper.
I only tried onion and garlic, no effect.
Currently I am using the homeopathic medicine the Indian doctor gave me when I was 5.
Also I have put Zamzam water on my head and that has helped as well, along with rubbing aloe vera plant.
I was in Makkah for about 2 weeks for Itikaf (Devoting yourself totally to God, not concerning yourself with worldly affairs, praying, reading the Quran, and not going out of the area of the Mosque)
I put Zamzam water on my head multiple times everyday and prayed to God.
I also got sick there towards the end of my stay, and in those 2 weeks I had a lot of hair growth.
There have not been a lot of people who have made fun of me, mainly because I did not have this problem for long when I was a child.
When I came here to USA I went to the 12th grade, and since I had total hair loss some people assumed I had cancer, or was a cancer survivor.
I really hope that someone can come up with an effective cure for this disease, and I have read a few stories here and sympathize with everyone who has hair loss.
I understand how you all feel.
