Hi there,
I've had the strangest balding pattern the last 2 years. It all started in the crown, with my barber telling me I was thinning a little. Fast forward a year, I switched to 5% minoxidil in april and I'm shedding ever since. There's not that much hairs shedding from the crown, just mainly from the front. Could I be reacting badly to the minoxidil? The thin areas on my scalp seem to be the areas where I apply the minoxidil. They're of course also the areas where mbp hits. I now apply the foam variant 5% from september. I'm also 54 days on finastride now. I wish I started one year ago.
All the shed hairs are tiny: 2-3 cm. Not particularly thin, some of them are. My normal hair is def 5-6 cm so I guess it's either a medicine that's shortening their growth cycle, or it's male pattern baldness striking hard and suddenly since 9 months ago. Should I cherish any hope for finasteride to regrow the thin area? I mean, it's not too visible with dry hair, except when I am under bright lights. What I do know is that I thinned out dramatically the last 5 months.
Seeing all those hairs shed has been very depressing for me, I always styled my hair with gel, and I'm getting lesser hair to work with every day. I can count up to 200 hairs when I comb my hair, so I guess I'm losing a lot more on a daily basis. I'm now coming to a point where I just want to shave it all off. I'm just 22 and all my friends are still sporting luxurious manes, I also have a strange skull at my vertex. So I'm quite hesitant on doing so.
As for family, my dad is nearly 60 and still NW1. My grandfather and uncle at mother side are very bald though. So I guess that explains why.
Anyway, I guess I just wanted to vent a bit. It's frustrating how I'm being so obsessed and depressed by something 'as stupid as hair'.
I also acknowledge that alot of you people are off way worse at 22. I feel for you.
PS: I was wondering what norwood I was, I included some pictures of me with wet hair.
