Ok, brief history on me. Diffuse thinner. On finasteride and minoxidil liquid for three years prior to the switch.

My experience with the liquid is that it is god awful, goopy, oily sludge, and took so long to dry that if I didn't give at least 4 hours nightly before putting my head on the pillow or wearing a beanie cap to bed, I would grow hairs in wierd places, my neck, etc.

I hated it and only used it once a day, in the evening, maybe three or four nights a week.

it worked, got me back to a workable baseline but still a not so good crown area.it still needed filling.

Last May I bit the bullet and tried the foam. Twice a day, SO EASY, almost as invisible as brushing teeth or tying shoes, dries SO FAST, smells nice..

...I recently started seeing a girl and she commented that my hair smells wonderful :mrgreen: . I'll have no trouble telling her about it later.

Anyway, what I saw was a very noticeable burst of growth along my hairline, and in my hair. I've been shaving my head for a while now, so it was VERY easy for me to notice this, it was a burst of fresh crop.

I've been silent for the last couple months because I have gone through a pretty good sized shed. My temples were all patchy (liveable because I shave), and I was holding on without bringing it here and whining about it.

A lot of you guys come on here and expect miracles and start hitting the panic button :shock: OMG I"M SHEDDING FOAM SUXXS! IT"S A SCAM IT DOESN'T WORK!!!!

.... when all along you were just going through a big shed.

Unfortunately, for some of you, nothing will work, except for a BIC razor, but foam is pretty powerful and needs to be used for at least a year to see if you get results.

Anyway, I'm at month six and my hair has bounced back from the shed and I'm seeing levels that I've never seen before under the liquid. My crown is nearly filled in. My hairline is pretty solid. Temples are coming back in.

So, yeah, I'm sold on the foam. It is in every single way concievable a superior product compared to the liquid.

Enjoy jumping back on liquid guys. sorry it didn't work after two minutes like you were hoping. But these things take time.

Enjoy the goop. Me, until HM or whatever comes in, I'll take foam. Stuff is a miracle.

in general:
foam seems to work better for people under minoxidil for years, and people who take finasteride or proscar in their regim...
for the others...you're lucky with foam...or not...

for me it was to scary, the liquid was working very well...and yes: "oh my god i have a shedding not two minutes, but 4 months continuously, feel very bad, i switch back to liquid!!!":freaked:

maybe i'll try again later, in one or two years, when they will be more objectiv feedback

Dude, did you not read my post at all? I shed for several months. Anyway, like I said, enjoy the goop and your continuing to worsen condition.

Should have grown some balls and stuck it out. Foam seems to induce a stronger shed reaction.

I was able to withstand the "freaking out" by keeping my head shaved and not thinking twice about it.

Now I've grown out to about an inch and everything is looking like I'm on track to be totally filled in before a year.

The real problem is a lot of new people on here and people, especially American's like myself, simply cannot fathom that something might take up to a year to show results and will be a holy hell rollercoaster nearly up to that point.

People are programmed to seek instant results. Even with something as epically slow as hair cycles. Hair grows fairly quickly but the whole cycle from new follicle to death is a SLOOOW process. The process of inducing that growth to stick around and become visible is a SLOOOW process.

I'm fully convinced that foam blows liquid out of the water. I'm sitting here with nearly 94%where I want to be.

It was a fast eruption followed after two months by three and a half months of shed shed shed. Now it's coming in strong.

the key with the foam is to not have the hair any longer then an inch. i dont think any1 with male pattern baldness and useing rogaine should have their hair longer then an inch. you will absorb so much more rogaine foam with hair around half an inch. also run the scalp under warm water for a minute and then towel dry, a few minutes later apply the foam. you will absorb about 50 percent more of the foam this way. to be honest I think the only rogaine foam non responders are the ones with long hair, or not absorbing the product enuff because scalp is tough to penetrate. with hair under an inch and right after a towel dry you use so much less foam and you can work the foam so well into your scalp by rubbing it in which i think is crucial. so all you non responders out there cut your hair down to inch or less and after shower towel dry and imeditley apply the foam dot it at night, you don't need to apply rogaine twice, even dr. proctor has stated that the reason he doesn't use his products twice a day because he saw no difference in it when they tested them.

you are absolutely correct. The hair must be kept very short. Very short. I just keep mine shaved.

I shave it and then let it grow for a month or so. Foam is more effective, more powerful, but it's more difficult to apply. Still, I'll take the extra horsepower, the extra ooomph, not to mention the extreme level of convienience and ease of use over the agony of the liquid,which doesn't perform as well but is easier to get under long hair.

Shaving my head was the most terrifying thing I'd ever concieved of doing. Until I did it.You'd be surprised how much is under there and even, for some of you, if there isn't much there, you will still look and feel a million times more manly and confident than hiding under thatches of limp bacon strips of "hair".

You don't need a razor blade (most of you), just some clippers.

I was worried that I was going to be less appealing with a shaved head, indeed the reverse has been the case, I have more girls interested in me now then when I was running around pre-regimen with just hideous limp hair.

I could probably grow my hair back out now given a few more months, my regimen of finasteride and now the foam is a success, but I won't.

I actually prefer the look now. I've gone to the gym and become fit and so my face better matches the shaved head but I didn't wait to do it. The result wasn't people mocking me but of respect.

Trust me guys, just do it, you'll feel so free and happy when you do. Nothing can get you down after you shave it all off and give it the finger.

And when you do it, you get a far more effective response to a far more powerful type of minoxidil,the foam.

Do it.

I'm pretty happy now, I think I can survive the next few years until HM gets perfected. Then I can begin to get off these products altogether.

Until then, you have to compromise to make these things work. Foam works, but I can't see it working if you are trying to have long hair.

i prob wil not shavemy head because i stil have very good coverage on top...been on finasteride for 1 year 1 monht and maintained well. i keep my hair long on the top and short on the bangs, number 1 on the sides.

i am just using foam to get some if any parts of the temple back and to strengthen the hairline.

i am ready for shedding if it happens, and if it does, will prob just cut the top shorter.

my question is, would u just shed in areas whereu applied the foam or all over like Telogen Effluvium?

thats the hair style I have, and ever since I starting doing that, I haven't had any comments on my hair thinning/balding, I love it.

I've been considering Rogaine FOAM somewhat lately. I've been taking finpecia a little over a year now and I haven't really seen any growth, but it has appeared to stop thinning. From perusing several sites, along with the posts on this forum, I imagine FOAM should benefit me. Anyway, I did want to say thank you to everyone that posts on this forum. Like many of you, I manage to dwell in moments of depression regarding my hair, but reading everyone's posts has helped a lot.
