I've been fighting hairloss for about 7 or 8 years now with some success. I'm 25 years old now and first started noticing my hairline creeping when I was only 16. I'm happy to say that for someone who's been balding for almost 10 years, I'm only a Norwood 3.5.
I feel like lately, though, I'm starting to go diffuse in my crown area and I'm worried about a potential bald spot in the back, when all I have now is a receding hairline.
As far as treatments, here's what I've been using and when I started:
minoxidil 5%, 2x daily-- 2003
nizoral (couple times a week) -- 2007
Finasteride 1.25mg daily-- July 2009
Saw Palmetto 160mg daily -- May 2010
Piroctone Olamine shampoo (Body Shop Ginger) every day--May 2010
As you can see, I'm really trying to kick my regimen up a notch. For those that don't know, shampoos containing Piroctone olamine are really good anti-inflammitory and anti-fungal shampoos. I used to have bad seborrheic dermatitis on my face and a cream containing piroctone olamine cleared it up almost completely. I'm currently rotating the Nizoral with the Body Shop Ginger (one in the morning, one at night). I'm not sure if the saw palmetto is going to do anything, but I'm not getting any sides so I guess it's worth a shot, right?
I'd really like some input on how you think my regimen stacks up. It kind of feels like I have all the bases covered, so I'd really like to hear if there is anything else I should consider adding to my regimen. I would really like to keep what hair I have now and consider a transplant one day, and if I can't do that, then at least I can stop worrying that there's stuff out there that I should be taking that I'm not.
Thanks in advance
