Hey arcillis your hair is not that bad. It looks good. I think you aredoing all you can by using the minoxidil and nizoral. When you are 18 it would be best if you get onto the finasteride. Dont worry much you havent lost a lot of hair and i dont think you are a NW3. Just continue with nix and minoxidil and when your 18 add the finasteride and things should just get better.
Goodluck

Yeah, your hair is not that bad at all. However, that being said, I think that you did the right thing by taking action now. It's much easier to keep the hair you have than to grow it back.

On a side note, I'm a newbie on this site and one thing I just can't get over is how people so young are losing some of their hair. Does anybody think diet is much more important than people realize concerning hairloss? I sometimes watch classic movies from the '50s and earlier and notice hardly any of the men are losing their hair. Are there any statistics concerning male pattern baldness throughout the last several decades.

In addition, I don't know if this is related to male pattern baldness but I am constantly amazed how tall today's youth are becoming. I'm around 5'9" which is probably considered short today. Does anyone think diet is related to these two factors? I, for one, think that there is more to this than just genetics.

In 50´s movies everyone who was bald wore a piece, or even they painted their hair.

Normal people did that too, when taking a wedding photo or something like that.

Really??? I had no idea. I think what you said might be true, but probably only partly so. Hair piece technology today is surely more advanced than what it was 50+ years ago; however, even now, they are still relatively noticeable. But look how fat people are nowadays; additionally, consider all the junk food that we eat. Surely, this type of diet, or rather lack thereof, could manifest itself by hairloss--and possibly behavior factors such as depression. Of course, this wouldn't explain the height increase in today's youth so I'm still at a loss concerning that.

Definetely good advice. Many people go through the denial stage before taking action and wish they had done something earlier when they had more hair to salvage. Me included.

Arcillis, your hairline doesn't look bad at all, but there does seem to be some diffuse loss. I think you're doing the right thing by using minoxidil and nizoral, cause at your age I wouldn't recommend f*****g with hormone levels.

BTW, I am becoming more and more convinced that insulin resistance plays a role in male pattern baldness. I can't post all the studies/theories I've read (seeing as how I forgot where I read them) but if you do a google, you might find something.

Anyway, that's just my theory on why there seems to be such a high occurence of premature male pattern baldness. I'm getting my insulin levels checked as soon as possible myself.

your hairline looks similar to mine, the bad thing is i have been on minoxidil for 8 months and it didnt regrow jack maybe little thickening, i had to quit after excessive flakes and itching.. try it and if you dont like it quit before it makes it worse.
