Hi,
It's my first time posting about my hair loss problem, I am 22 yo and have been losing hair since 16.
I searched about my hair loss on internet but i have not found anything similar:
My hair is scarce on the top and on the sides. It seems to me that my hair loss is diffuse, it isn't worse on the temples. I m losing hair in the same way all over the top of my head. I also have very thin hair on the sides and back which isn't supposed to be affected by alopecia.
My alopecia is very much like the one experienced by women because my hair is thinning throughout the entire scalp.
Frequently, my hair hurts when i change it's direction. It's very sensitive and fragile. I started minoxidil and finasteride when i was 17 for 8 months maybe, but minoxidil wrecked my hair, because it's so fragile i figured i m better off without it.
Minoxidil made my hair very bad looking and brittle. I honestly never saw hair as bad as mine after i put minoxidil on it. It's curly and messy and dirty and scarce. kind of like a stainless steel sponge.
But i kept using finasteride intermittently, i stop using it because sometimes i get scared of the side effects.
Recently i started the treatment again. Now i m in my 6th month of finasteride and 3rd month of minoxidil (i started using the foam instead of the liquid) i take supplements, I use sebiprox and a shampoo for greasy hair, but my hair is thiner than ever, it seems to me that the treatment doesn't work. I can't hide my baldness anymore and it's so stressful because i've never seen a case like mine on the internet.
To top it off, i have no facial hair, i have maybe 20 single hairs in the right side and 15 on the left, i don't even have a mustache because it doesn't grow on the middle.
I honestly don't know what to do, i haven't seen a dermatologist since when i first took the treatment at 17. I don't think my hair loss is normal and i don't know if i m wasting my time using this treatment for nothing and getting only side effects. I am seriously hoping i have a condition that explains this weird hair loss + no facial hair and that it can be treated. But i think it's genetic because my father is bald. And my mother also has hair loss.
