Posted this on reddit but I always like to get opinions here.
Basically was on it for close to five months but stopped due to sides (no libido, sudden loss of morning wood and random erections, but the weak/soft erections are what made me stop), but my hairline thinned pretty dramatically in only a few months on finasteride. About five days after starting finasteride was when I noticed the shed increased and it didn't stop the whole time I was on the drug. I went from having no visible signs of baldness to having to use toppik to fill in my hairline everyday so i can style my hair, which I feel like is pretty rapid loss. I'll post some pics but I assure you it looks much worse in person. Of course I was only on finasteride for 5 months so who knows if it would eventually work for me, but I lost a lot of ground in those fives months. Also the worst part is now when I style it up, you can see gaps through it where the light shines through the styled part cause it's so thin. This is almost definitely bro science but I feel like I am one of the people with low dht levels but high sensitivity, so the decrease of my already low dht may have increased receptor sensitivity and accelerated loss, or maybe it was just my balding progressing. But it seems awfully coincidental that I noticed hair fall for over a year with no change in density/appearance, and then as soon as I start finasteride things start to get worse by the week. Some shed hair also gradually got thinner towards root which never happened before finasteride and seems like a red flag.
Current hairline, you can see how thin it is, it is like that the whole way across my hairline but my hair is covering most of it: http://imgur.com/Rx33mg7
Current hairline, looks better here cause hair is pulled back but it's very thin: http://imgur.com/Ivf96Xy

This is like a month or two months into treatment, I don't have any baseline pics of hairline density because it was never a concern before this point: http://imgur.com/NBXVNr5
I know I will get some sh*t cause my loss really doesn't look as bad in pictures as it does in person, it is very thin behind the hairline but when pulling it back it looks thicker. Regardless, I will stay off finasteride for a bit to see how I feel and then may consider starting again at .25 eod or .25ed because I know the likelihood of finasteride making my hair worse is low even if that's how it felt to me, and it really is the best option we have to fight it.
