my doctor won't prescribe me finasteride, how can i get it in Canada?

So i went to the doctor today and he said that I'm too young to start finasteride (I'm 18 right now). I've tried looking for it online but no countries ship to Canada because of customs, and internally I need a prescription. What else can I do to reduce my hairlosss?? alternatives to finasteride that i can obtain? or alternative method to get finasteride?

The best thing u can do is see another Doctor. Im sure youll find one to prescribe it. its not a dangerous drug, apart from side effects, which are more annoying than dangerous.

otherwise find someone older to get it for u, would ur dad do it?

DHT acts as an essential role for your genitals development when you are younger than 18. But being 18 is pretty close to the age limit, at your age I would probably try an anti-dht shampoo such as nizoral, regenepure or revita with Minoxidil wich is pretty easy to buy here in Canada.

You could try Saw palmetto which act as a dht-blocker too, but the sides may be similar to finasteride. Saw palmetto is easy to buy in any natural supplement stores.

I wouldnt bother with anything else. Just live with it like all the older guys used to do for now or see a different Doctor or derm and try it or wait for a few years until we get something safer.

18 is a bit young tbh - I'd try and hang on till early 20s

Thanks guys but I still plan on doing something about it. I think for finasteride ill wait till I'm 20 or when the shedding gets bad. I have been on minoxidil for a Month now and havnt noticed any difference.
It's just hard to accept and I've always used finasteride as an excuse not to worry, and it feels devastating knowing i cant get it. Anyways I'm gonna change my diet like the Doctor recommended and drink more water. Planning on adding nizoral too. Any feedback?

I know the thread is old. Just want to say that now I know truth. If your doctor won't prescribe Finasteride for you, then get a new doctor, or get it online as i do.
