My continued experience of male pattern baldness...

Well guys

thought i'd chime in since it's been a while.

By way of an update over the summer i began dating a beautiful girl who is a real catch. By that i mean she's real intelligent, a good girl with a great job and is very popular.

Anyway, just like experienced with all the girls ive ever dated, this one is also apathetic to my hairloss situation.

Seriously, this confirmed it for me. Girls aren't half as bad as you guys think. You might get judged when you are a strange but girls that know you really don't care.

I was kind of conscious of it with this girl since she's a potential wife. I mentioned it to her a few times and she's always just said "you'd look good with no hair". The first time i mentioned it she said "why, do you think you'll lose it all?". She wasn't even barely interested in the answer - really unconcerned - as if it was a small thing that neither of us would worry about.

She even said when i told her at the weekend "i was tempted to shave my head last night as my hair looked terrible after the shower". She jsut replied "why didn't you then?". Again, no biggie. She then said "sure all the top managers where i work are balding....maybe there's a trend for the big achievers".

It just amazes me that either ive been freakishly lucky with the girls ive dated (i don't mean to boast but the past few have been serious hotties) just didn't really care how i looked - they just loved me, or the consensus here is loser mentality. I figure it's a little bit of both. I believe anyone can find a girl of acceptable standard to them REGARDLESS of their hair situation if they can pull it together in other areas - i..e be a good catch. We are MEN, if you act like a MAN then you'll be treated like a MAN. Real MEN aren't judged on looks near as much as you think. Just go hang around a circle of girls for a day, you'll be shocked at who they find attractive, alot of the time being not because of their looks but because of them overall.

And before anyone starts - no im no Brad Pitt, im 5 7' and just a normal looking guy. I am confident and a happy person generally, though.

Yes i'll continue to fight my male pattern baldness (without finasteride thats for sure - the stuff is dirt im still not the same sexually and ive stopped it 18 months) but its more of an insecurity of mine than an issue with any partner i've ever had. Yes, it migth be more difficult to attract a stranger but as we get older (im 26) that's generally the case anyway.

Anyway, that's my story. Hopefully you guys can meet some girls that are similar.

nice to see a positive post.

How do you plan to fight your hair loss and what stage are you at now?

Did finasteride relly mess you up that badly? What were your sides if you don't mind me asking and are you really a lot worse off now? (i'm sconsidering it's use if my hair takes a turn for the worse in a year or two)

Unfortunately, yes. finasteride did some serious damage, i doubt if i'll ever return to pre-finasteride. Im about 65% right now, id love to get to 80% over the next year or two.

Basically i just started having a little less libido over the course of usage of about 13 months. It then got to a point i definately knew something was up so i stopped it. I didn't crash or anything (like some report), i just kept getting worse. My libido went to nothing, erections weak, watery semen and 6-8 months later (yep) my penis starting shrinking. I had shooting pains in my penis at this time - i think it was cell death or something, i just don't know but my penis is thinner and of different composition ever since (it's still consider "normal" by any urologist, but i assure you its changed noticably).

Things have leveled off a little / i've learned how to manage my sides. I have to use cialis to assist my erections but even then im not 100% hard. My semen has improved though.

As i said, finasteride did something do me and im still trying to recover. I think i turned the corner but it's serious sh*t, man. There's thousands of guys with the same problems many who post on the forums and many who don't.

I was unlucky, granted, but the sides are much more prevalent that MERCK would have you know - there's no doubt about that.

finasteride didn't even help my hairloss - that's the biggest irony.

Nice to have a positive post on here for once. Also glad to see you've found a good girl.

Yes, you're right women aren't as shallow/superficial as people on here think they are. If they like you they're not going to reject you just because you're losing your hair. It would be like one of us guys finding a girl who's our soul mate...then breaking up with her because she's a B cup and not a C cup. It doesn't make any sense.

Thanks.

Were there any warning signs that in hindsight might have saved your sexual health if you'd have come off as soon as you noticed them?

My hair is really bothering me now and I want to have finasteride as an option in case it gets worse (which it probably will) and in case i'm one of the lucky people who don't get sides.

Would you be able to get it up without cialis do you think? What do the docs say about it?

Not yet.

I just use minoxidil for the most part. I was taking progesterone (for my propecia side effects) which migth have helped my hair. Not sure if i'll go back on them or not.

Laser helment - limited benefit although i think it helps shedding there hasn't been any visible results - my hair loss is pretty aggressive.

Not really, only at hingsight i had slightly lowered libido. But it happened over a course of a year so it was very hard to tell until a particular sexual experience proved it to me, essentially.

Most people have more obvious signals, but in some cases its too late at this stage.

Try finasteride if you want, just be careful and know what what risks you are taking.

Yes i could - on a good day. But id be 60-70% hard.

Good thread. Funny thing is that the guys screaming the loudest about how girls ignore bald guys are guys that never even tried their chances with one...

Heavy diffuse NW4 is legit enough hair loss. Having said that..

Way to generalize there. Not everyone can be an alpha male, nor should they try to be.

yes but its immaterial as peopel like statham look badass with a NW5 shoe an colin mochrie looks like a joke wiht a NW5 hairline so we don't know what people look like.

some caucasian guys DO look good with a shoe, its rare but possible.

its hard to tell what the OP looks like with his hairline.

so what im saying is i woulnt judge a man on his hairline, maybe he looks good with it.

example blll bailey in mid 30s with a skullet looking fine, however most guys look like child rapitsts with skullets.

Yes they are married now and have 3 screaming rug rats.
She works for an accountant firm and takes her lunch with an understudy coworker who's name is Kelley.
This is a recent photo of Kelley shortly coming off his lunch break.
