Hi. I have never done anything like this before but I need all the guidance i can get. My almost three year old daughter is losing her hair. It started back in February I took her to her pediatrician and she referred me to a dermatologist and sent me for some blood work. The dermatologist sent me for more blood work. When the first and second set of blood results came back it showed my daughter had a low iron reserve and that she was fighting something. She's was put on an iron supplement and on Tuesday (9th April) we went to redo the first two sets of blood tests and all came back OK! The problem is that she is still loosing her hair!!! The dermatologist didn't really seem to think that it was a problem, her suggestion was to wait three to four months and hope. I hung up the phone in shock at her suggestions and My husband called back and got us another apt next week. Is there anything that I should look out for or do that could help me help my daughter. I feel very helpless right now. Thanks in advance....

Hi Laskye, our 3 year old has hair loss also, our doctor seems fairly unsure, so we have seen a 'specialist' who diagnosed areata; although the images on here indicate it may be self inflicted, the specialist asked us to return in 2 months and gave us some shampoo.

It's very stressful, no clear diagnosis and no obvious answer! I share your concerns. Time will heal apparantly!
