Must I get any blood work before starting finasteride?

I'm abroad atm away from home, and pretty low on money.
I have my finasteride, but I cant really afford the blood tests.
I've gotten my thyroids / iron tests to rule out other causes of my hairloss.
I've seen derms and it seems that it deff is male pattern baldness.
Anyway I want to get on a 0.5 mg dose a day. Is it necessary to get any blood test done? I dont want to keep finasteride on hold for another while as i'm losing ground pretty quickly.
Also. On finasteride, should I expect my shedding to stop , or should i expect it to get worse before it gets better?
Thank you in adv.

what is your age?

if you're under 30, then you should consider getting blood hormone tests.

if you can't afford it, most likely you wont run into problems anyway especially with 0.5mg

I'm 20 years old. I really cannot afford the blood test. At the same time i'm losing ground really quickly. I could still maintain a nice head of hair if finasteride works for me, thats why I want to start it ASAP.
What do you think?

For the tests you have done, did you have to justify why you wanted them?

Honestly I would get any tests you can before you start on finasteride, I thought everything would be casual and easy when I started fincar, 6 months down the line and I think I'm suffering some side effects even after quitting the drug. I wish I had some sort of hormone tests to compare now. `so if it's reasonably priced go for it.,

Hey man. How much good did the finasteride do to your hair / what dose were you on?
What kinds of sides are you talking about?
Thanks for the reply :)

you don't need blood tests. i don't see what purpose they would serve.

Well, if you get fucked over by the drug, a sheet with baseline hormone levels would be like a map and compass in the jungle. I recommend everyone considering medicating themselves with finasteride to identify their hormone levels first.
