Mother or father? causes you to genetic hairloss..

There are many many websites that says that genetic hairloss has
something to do with your mothers genes, because it's the X-chromosome..
And there are many websites that says to look a your father's hair genes (Y-chromosome).

If it's the mothers genes; X-chromosome causes this than must we look at the father of our mothers?
Or the mothers

Or is it a combination of your mother and fathers genes? there so however means that you aren't going
as bald as your father does?

Mom's side for sure for me. All the people on my Mom's side has it and on my Dad's side, everyone still has extremely extremely thick hair even in their 80s. I'm beginning to battle this as a woman in mid 30s. I've been enjoying my "Dad's genes" thick perfect hair all my life until the past year. Since then, my hair has gotten a bit thinner and shed a bit more easily and I'm officially worried that I will turn out like all the people on my Mom's side in the immediate future. I just started the big 3 treatment exactly a month ago ... anyone reads my reply, please read my first post and give me some advices regarding my question "women and finasteride".

I appreciate your help, any help.

You're a woman? You have it from your mother i guess because you've the X and X chromosome..

As far as I know, it is the mother side. So if your mother's brother is bald, watch out!!!

I remember reading somewhere that if your father is bald and your mothers father isn't, it's sways like 60% ; 40% in favour of your mothers side, my dad is bald but my maternal grandfather, who is 72 has a good head of hair, Norwood 2.5 ..... it seems I fell into the 40% ....

Same except my dad is still a nw3v at 62 while I'm thinning in a Type V pattern, seems like my baldness must come from some past ancestor.

why? you're balding in a V shape so.. it's maybe comming to nw3? like your dad..? is it not possible that it's going to slow down.. the baldness?

No not a V shape, Type V pattern, like this but I still have hair on the front but the crown is thinning in a rectangular shape with the hairband like strip in the middle going from ear to ear, think of an inverted thinning Y in the middle of the head:

No recession of the temples or hairline in my case, my dad doesn't have midscalp thinning like me, it's a different pattern even if we both went to the end of the scale. He's textbook Norwood pattern.

Mine must be on my mother's side. My maternal grandfather was a NW4/NW5. However on my father's side there is no history of hairloss. My old man is 58 and is just now approaching nw3 with a little crown thinning.

My dad is Norwood 4 on this scale here although his bald spot is just forming, he's 48 years old.

My maternal grandfather's hair is almost identical to Vince McMahon's except his temporal points are straight and not triangular, infact, when looking at old pictures of him he never had prominent temporal points.

my hairloss def comes from my father, he´s the only one in my entire family (including his own father) who suffers from hairloss. My mom has great hair and so does everyone else
