Hi All,
Not been on the forums for a while but I immediately noticed lots of "new" drug names! So my questions is, the "big 3" still the "big 3" or can we add something else here?

Two words: Oral spironolactone. This stuff is male pattern baldness's worst nightmare. But don't tell anyone else because it's a secret.

So says the person who has a full head of hair.

If by full you mean full then, no, I don't have a full head of hair. I obviously have Jude Law style recession just not as steep yet.

You may have some very slight temple recession but nowehere on par with Jude Law. If your after your original teenager hairline you should just give up spironolactone and get an hair transplant since no hairloss drug will get your desired results.

"very slight," that's funny.

Lloyd please be careful telling people to take such a highly dangerous and experimental treatment.

You're right, I should add: take at your own risk! My spironolactone buddy did develop a little bit of gyno on like 200mg daily and it lowers your blood pressure. I can certainly be a dangerous drug and it is experimental because it isn't approved for hair loss treatment.

Lloyd,
I want to say that though oral spironolactone seems to be a good method to you, the effects on scalp hair are variable. I have been taking oral spironolactone for nearly a year (under doctors supervision and for other reasons) and I haven't really noticed anything. The gains, if any are marginal and could honestly be subjective. The only person I do know of that did have marked success is KWIH on hairlosshelp. I think that he was the exception to the rule. After all, why block t completely when you can just block DHT. Seems like a more effective approach with finasteride.

testosterone is bad for hair too.
finasteride and dutasteride raises your testosterone levels a bit so if we could lower both DHT AND testosterone, that would be even better for your hair.

finasteride, dutasteride, spironolactone...any anti-androgen will raise your t-levels; initially. This is the bodies negative feedback loop and is intended to maintain homeostasis . Eventually, the body will ramp down the production of t to lower than baseline with anti-androgens.
