-You need to be over 18 to take it

This is the biggest joke I have ever heard and a prime example that alot of people here dont use critical thinking skills and just repeat the same garbage they read some other guy post.

Do you have any research to support your claims that you will get these so called permanent side effects that you all eem to claim? Have any of you taken finasteride pre 18 that would at least give you a slight form of anecdotal evidence to make such ridiculous claims? I'm pretty sure the answer is no.

Newsflash, 18 is not this magical age where everyone on earth is programmed to stop developing sexually and physically. Some people develop until 21 some people are done by 15. If you start balding at 16 that means that the hormones in your body are that of an adult male allowing the process to occur. Not to mention most of the time people who start balding so early are able to grow thicker facial hair than most 30 year olds.

I was done growing by 16, I took finasteride and dutasteride at 16 and now I still take both and I'm fine. Stop spreading myths that you have no research at all to support. I see all these threads about that these young kids make asking if they should start treamtment and so many of you guys ignorantly tell them to stay away knowing that with such aggressive hairloss they will have lost much more hair until 18 when it could have been potentially avoided.

End of rant

How old are you now? Has it helped you maintain?

I agree with you by the way someone who is balding in teens and can grow a full beard is realistically a man.

yeah I mean the logic on both lack science. But using age as rule of thumb isnt a great idea either. Some people finish growing earlier or some later really needs a doctor to decide case by case. So I do believe the mass amounts of people on here claiming you need to be 18 are doing more harm than good. They should be recommending them to see a doctor instead of trying to scare young people why they should not use it....

vs your science which is proven scientificily right? I had no idea that clinical trails demontrated that using fiansteride before the age of 18 if you are balding will give you all these terrible sides. Thank you for awaring me on that...

You'd be a damned fool to mess with your hormones before you're even finished with puberty yet. Most guys keep masculinizing well past 18. You don't need studies to know this, just common sense.

So you suggest anyone 18 and on finasteride is a damn fool?

Usually the only thing going on past 18 is thickening of facial which doesn't mean you're still going through puberty. I'm 26 and my facial hair is still coming in. But most 18 year old son have had growth spurts and can ejaculate so there's not much going on after that.

You're one to talk about messing with hormones.

If they aren't done going through puberty, yes. Some people are done at 18, but most are not.

My hole point was that if are balding at 17, 16 or whatever than 99% probability is that you are done maturing. Use your brain

Most people balding under 18 can grow very thick facial hair too. I have been done growing since I was 16
