More Songs About Buildings and Scalp Irritation

Matgallis just posted about scalp irritation recently and it brought up some questions I have of my own. I've been using minoxidil for about a month now and been responding pretty badly. My shedding and thinning have gotten considerably worse, which I had been attributing to either sh*t luck and the drug not working at all, or more optimistically a minoxidil-induced shed and sign it's working. That was until I started reading about the inflammation it seems to cause pretty commonly and the negative effects thereof. Just about as long as I've been on it I've noticed some flaking and itchiness exactly where I apply minoxidil on my temples which was especially conspicuous since I've never had anything remotely resembling a dandruff problem, and the flaking/irritation seems isolated to those spots. So my questions are, how counter-productive to minoxidil or any regimen is this inflammation? Also, I'm a pretty broke-*** college student and although I'm pretty sure I'll add nizoral to my regimen next time I'm at the store I have a feeling it won't help this inflammation and may well even make it worse given that I have a pretty sensitive scalp and from what I've read the stuff sounds strong, like keto-agent-orange. So assuming it won't work what's the most cost effective brand of copper peptides? And should Nizoral and a T/Gel or T/Sal shampoo help with flaking, would you recommend Copper Peptides for their merits in fighting hairloss alone? One more question, I'm new to hair loss so I haven't had a chance to peruse the hair loss shampoos but do they even sell T/Sal at most stores? I have a vague recollection of stocking T/Gel from back when I worked at a CVS but I don't remember ever seeing T/Sal there, or any other store shelves. Thanks.

People tend not to read big blocks of text with no paragraph spaces it and questions hidden throughout. Edited so you might get some answers.

Well, that's one question down. *Uppercuts to the top*

By the way, thanks for the suggestion Tynan. Any input from the author of those Dear Procerin e-mails is appreciated.

Not sure if this is one of the side effects or not, but since taking finasteride I noticed that my head seems to itch more, but I am only taking finasteride and nizoral. I never noticed that my head itched before. Anyone else have this? Its not too bad just wondering if this happened to anyone else.

hey. youre only a month into minoxidil man, the 1st 2 months generally tend to be the biggest shedding months. i wouldnt worry, tonnes of people see regrowth on minoxidil. stick with it, be strict with your applications.

yeah get on nizoral. im only on finasteride and nizoral, but whenever my scalp get dry and flaky, hit it with nizoral. i know it sounds real tough and like it would damage your scalp, but it really doesnt. use it like 3x a week for 2 or 3 weeks, and use another shampoo another 3 days. the other day of the week, just rinse it with water. trust me, your inflammation will go down - nizoral is great at combatting flakiness and itching scalp etc. after thats subsided quite a bit, use it like 2-3 times a week. remember, in the finasteride trials, nizoral was used by all participants - most likely because the operators of the trial knew what effect bad scalp condition can have on balding, and the effect nizoral can have on a bad scalp.

remember to condition your hair a few times a week, not using too much conditioner. solely for the purpose of not making your hair look too fried out. take a break day from shampooing sometimes. but get rid of the dandruff as a priority for the first week or 2. a healthy scalp will see the best results with treatments.

TIP: i read this on the forum some months ago and it has most definitely worked for me. when you rinse shampoo off your hair and scalp, use cold water. this soothes the scalp and calms irritation. i like warm showers, so after ive shampooed, at the end of the shower il turn down the temp to quite cold, and then rinse the shampoo out before turning off the shower. hey, it works, it really does, you should notice it after a few days, or even how it feels after the shower.

Tynan have you stopped using it at all to see if it helped with the irritation? If so did it work?

Hmmm, I remember suggesting this a while back so, on the off chance that it was from my post, I'll now demand my fee. I've waived the up-front payment but the recurring usage fees are mounting up (one Pound thirty seven per shampoo) so get your chequebook out.

Yeah same here the itch is not really all that bad but as soon as I start to scratch I do not want to stop.
