Mohawk

Hey Folks,

I´ve got a Norwood 2 nearing 3. I call it a 2.5 as it´s receding and thinning as well. I´ve been shaving it for a few months now and toying with the idea of going with a mohawk. Has anyone done this? I have a Young face and mid 20s so feel I could even try it, grow my hair in for a few weeks and seee how bad, awful or indifferent it looks on me, and if it looks rubbish - I can just shave the rest of it all of.

Anyone tried a mohawk as a style for hiding a receding dome? I´ve got a U shaped hairline so have enough coverage at the front to try it.

Suppose it rules out office types, and probably is a short term solution as well, as most mohawks seem to only last a few weeks, months at a push.

Be interesting hearing your views or even if someone goes with this or tried this style.

Yeah I have that style all the time and I'm a NW2-3. It's the best style if you have the early stages of male pattern baldness as the mohawk takes away the attention from your temples.

My advice is get your hair buzzed short around the sides and back and leave it a little longer on top and at the front so that you can style it in such a way that will disguise your temples.

Also I think it should be an acceptable style for the workplace as longer as it's not a radically styled mohawk with half a tub of gel, you want it to be more a subtle style. Use a finger tip amount of wax to style the front, top and back and it should look great.

Hi Primo,

Cheers for the reply. Sounds similar to what I might try, your style.
Thanks for the hints as well.
I just shaved my head on Friday with a razor so going to let it grow in for 2 weeks.

Hi Primo,

Just to let you know I tried this 'doo' over Christmas to what I'd say much success. Basically shaved the sides etc, kept some hair on top similar to a 4 all over cut and used some concealer at the sides and thicken the hair. It seems relative easy to maintain and also looked alright or so I was told.
Mostly positive reviews bout it, but of course MR NW1 who works in the local pub who also has thick greasy hair said it was the 'Worst haircut he'd ever saw'.
Got the usual Robert De Niro taxi driver and Jarhead/Army recruit and some guy in glee?(i've never seen it)
Shaved the sides to a 1 on Christmas Eve and already it's growing back through so needs shaved again but I think i'll stick with it for the time being.

How's your routine? Like you say, it's hardly outrageous or sex pistols esque but when you are a Norwood 2.5 like me and diffuse, why not try everything and everyhair style before I have to bic it every day by choice.
