Mixing raw duta powder in liquid

I have raw Dutasteride powder, that I need to make into smaller doses. I have 1g of powder, and I need to make every dose .5mg. What is the best way to do this? I have a .01g scale.

I am thinking of making a liquid solution, but am not sure a bout the math. I am thinking mixing it using Everclear, but it's going to be tricky to get a hold on for me. I am sure this sounds stupid, but can I use isopropyl alcohol? I know it is not optimal by any means, but with the considerably small doses (1 drop per day) it might be ok.

Here the math:

1g = 1000mg = 2000 doses
1/2000 = .0005

1 dose = .0005g
100 doses = .05

1 ml (water) = 20 drops
5 ml (water) = 100 drops

So for me to get a solution that has (approximately) 100 drops with .5mg dutasteride, I should mix .05g powder in 5ml alcohol?

Is this math correct? I know that alcohol does not have the same surface tension, but is it somewhat close?
Has anyone else done this?

first id avoid iso,

second - check for dutas solubility,
you maybe can mix it with water...

0.5mg = dose

100mg = 200 doses
1000mg / 1g = 2000 doses.

0.01g (scales) = 10mg
0.1g = 100mg

just take 100/200/500/1000mg and dissolve it in -
(say alcohol) - 1 liter (for 100mg dutasteride, 200 doses, 5ml = dose = 0.5mg),
at 1000mg you can also use 1 liter - get a dose on every 0.5ml

mesure that with a dropper or a syringe and thats it.


that being solved -
where did u get pure powder from, and how do you know its pure and ok to use in humans ?

Dutasteride is insoluble in water, and even in regular vodka, it does not resolve completely. I will probably use Everclear 151 proof (75%), as it is the best available alternative in California. Using a syringe with .5ml would be great since droppers are quite inconsistent. However, I am a little bit concerned about taking .5ml of 75% alcohol every day, isn't that bad for my liver? Especially since duta itself is fairly hard on it.

I order my Duta from a reputable lab in China. Peoeple usually assume anything from China is fake/scam, but the chemical structure of dutasteride is very cheap and easy to make, so making fake powder is not worth it.

zzzzz: I would love to skip this process and get pre-made capsules, but when buying raw powder, the price is too good to ignore - 365 doses will cost me less than $15.

To summarize: Is it safe to take .5ml 75% alcohol every day without damaging the liver?

I'm no doctor, but at less than a quarter of a shot [when a shot is 44mL @ 40%], I don't think there should be any problems for a normal healthy liver. Maybe chase it with some water afterwards - so the concentration of alcohol is diluted somewhat.

Shouldnt be any problems
people uses even stronger alcohols in tinctures

you can check on what temperature dutasteride destroied,
That you can maybe drop that into tea
the heat of the tea will evaporate the alcohol imediatly and leave you with only water, dutasteride and tea

how can you be sure ?

it happens that my brother is a biologist with chem background and he told me that in order for a raw chemical to be used in humen (legaly) it needs to have so much certifications and regulations and no less than 99.999% purity
you can find these stuff at phyzer / bayer / dr reddys / cipla plants,
but they would never sell that to an individual

so i ask again - how can you be sure about what is this white powder ?
have you sent it to a check ?

I'm doing something similar.

But I have easy access to 95%/190 proof everclear - so I'll be using that.

If this solution is stored in an amber glass container in the fridge, how long do you think it would keep?

Right now I am thinking about portioning it out so that each mixture lasts 10 days.

Do you think 20 days could work just as well? Obviously the longer the duration, the more powder I weigh out, which will improve accuracy on my mg scale.

Well its a totally pure speculation, but id say that if they sell these in pills (that usually stored at room temp dark place) than its perfectly good in alcohol in the fridge (amber bottles only meant to be light proof, and the fridge is dark anyway)

You're right, I cannot be 100% sure as I have not had it checked. I have had people using this lab for years with good results recommending it though. Their duta is 99.3% pure, and has a melting point between 246-248 ℃.

Quickstrike: I am also trying to figure out the best way of storing it. Would it be best to store it by itself in powder form, or dissolve it then store it? Put the powder in the freezer?
