Mixing Minoxidil Solution

Hey guys, a recent post that I made posed an interesting question. Is is ever good for the hair to use different minoxidil solutions? I'm not talking about going from 5% to 15%, but from different vendors. 5% minoxidil (active ingredient) is always present in various formulas.

For me, I'm been using foam (6 months) ever since Dr. Lee 500 went off the market. Some progress on the crown, but terrible on the hairline. I'm considering jumping to DualGen5, or even Minoxidil Solutions' 5% which seems comparable to Dr. Lee's on the hairline. IS that a bad idea? I really don't have much hair left in front and really cant afford to lose anymore.

Cassin, can you get in on this conversation?

Thanks.

I use different brands of minoxidil, and now I mix two brands together, one 15% and one 5% rogaine, I have not seen anything negative!

Well....I switched back and forth between Dr Lees 500 and foam for years. I rotated back and forth just whenever I felt like it. No problems.

Now I use minoxidilmax Fast Dry and I might toss in unscented rogain foam since that's available. Maybe...my only hesitation is I hate how the foam makes my hair look.

Long story short? IMO...you'll be fine .

Thanks for the tips. I'm also considering going to go from 15% to 5% minoxidil on the hairline. (since I believe 15% screwed up my hairline)

if 15% minoxidil screwed up your hairline, i doubt 5% will be any better. You probably want to try spironolactone cream or Folligen for your hairline.

well the thing is that I actually never had to use minoxidil on my hairline (which I used on my vertex for 8 years already). I really never had to. But I started using 15% on my temples and eventually on my entire hairline. So what I figure is that 15% is screwing up my front (shock effect) so if I quit it, it'll go back to normal.
