Mixed results with propecia

I have been on propecia since july last year, no side effects at all. The hair on top of my head and in the vertex area has gotten thicker, BUT, my hairline has never looked this bad, it has receeded much faster now then before i got on propecia. I'm thinking of quitting and going on topical spironolactone instead.

Is it possible that propecia could worsen your hairline, and if, how is this possible? I've seen other people report this too.

I'll post some pictures of my hair but unfortunately i dont have any before pics.

I doubt propecia made your hairline worse, you were probably going to lose the hair anyway. Propecia is said to be less effective on the front but will still be slowing mbp if its working else where.
Its impossible to tell without before pics but I would suggest staying on finasteride and maybe adding minoxidil.

I thought I had a similar situation with fina, but what ended up happening is it tossed out all the thinner hairs at the front and eventually they grew back thicker. I believe i'm month 21 (stopped counting) and now i'm noticing hairs growing in the front. If anything I can say is give it 2 years because most of my best results started coming close to the 2 year mark. If I had given up after a year I would have never seen these results. I'm glad I waited. I thought at month 18 things were going well but man they are really going well now and can only get better I assume!

We can't tell without before pics. But if you do drop finasteride, and finasteride held on to some hair or even thickened up hair that you didn't even noticed it thickened, those hairs will fall off once you stop finasteride.

I suggest to add rogaine twice a day.

This is good news to hear..I am into 16 months now on the Big Three and it seems like my hair is getting worse...never thought about quitting finasteride though but was about to lose all hope ....I guess I need to be more patient!

I too was on dr reddy's finasteride and my hair started to diffusely shed (on the pill since jan 13') and it hasn't gotten any better. I don't understand how ones hair can constantly shed with no improvement. And how will this just automatically stop and new hair come back ? I don't see that happening...

I know what you mean. I used to experience the same time about 2 years ago. finasteride, propecia or proscar or whatever they call it these days are generally the worst drugs ever, their are filled with chemicals to the brim! Along with monixidil, it's just terrible! it's true when they say that some of the shedding you experienced, it doesn't mean you'll ever grow back those "lost" hairs ever again. I stopped both drugs years ago and I found a much better solution, it's actually 100% herbal based and chemical free and you can find out more about these serums at baldingserum.com -- trust me, once you've tried using their solution, you'll DEFINITELY stop fiddling with all these ridiculous drugs that come with even more ridiculous amounts of side effects! hope this post helps and all the best! :)
