21 years old...started balding at 18 at the temples and crown. I am on month 7 of finasteride now(experienced a moderate shed at month 3) and I started minoxidil about 2 months ago and I am experiencing a horrendous shed and my hairloss is impossible to miss now. Very thin on the crown and temple areas(scalp showing through) Before this shed I noticed an improvement in the appearance of my hair but little or no regrowth, but now thats all gone to poop and my resolve is starting to fade here 
My only real question is does minoxidil usually cause a shed and how long after this should I expect to see regrowth? Cuz of course if minoxidil just made it fall out forever I'd be rather pissed!! At this time I am forced to break out the clippers and shave it off because it is just plain embarassing and unmanageable given my choice of hairstyle, and a combover is simply out of the question. :-x
