Hey guys,
i'm 22 and I started to use minoxidill foam 5% (Kirkland) 4 days ago.
I used it for the first time at 11 am, felt nothing. Few hours later I felt like sh*t, horrible headache but didnt want to connect it to the minoxidill. I used it again at 11 pm and fall asleep.
Woke up and HORRIBLE dizziness.. I mean it feels like i'm on sleeping pills.. everything spins arouns and i'm so slow.

Since then it happens every morning and the whole day I feel like sh*t and wierd dizzines and headaches.

i'm using 5% twice a day (trying to make it every 12 hours), half a capful.

I have a very very big & important exam in 4 weeks from now.
I don't want to stop using it because I waited so much time to start the treatment and I really think it can save my hair and make my life x10 better.
So I hope that's only sides of the beginning and in 1 or 2 weeks my body will get used to it.
OR
Maybe I should reduce the amount to once a day? Every 24 hours instead of every 12 hours.

I have no other sides (meanwhile.. i'm using it only 4 days).. no itchness and no shedding. Just horrible headaches.

What do you think?
I really gonna suck into depression if i'll have to stop using minoxidill because I'v waited so much to start with it and had so many hopes and dreams for my hair.

Please tell me it's gonna be ok and my body gonna get used to it and everything is gonna be fine.

Thanks.

You are probably rubbing your face to the minoxidil when you go to sleep. Try sleeping with a beanie on and find out if you have the same feeling in the morning

I already do that..
I'm very carefull about it because I read horrible stories about wrinkles and sh*t so I never touch my pillow with my head if less then 4 hours have been passed.
And I wash my hands for 2 minutes after I use it.

Use a good skin care product if you are worried that it can damage your skin. Drink a lot of water when you wake up (atleast 0.5L).
Google how to combat minoxidil side effects

Oh damn.. I dont drink at all during the day.. I drink about 1-1.5L in total.
Do u think its part of the problem of the headaches? I mean I didnt have any before the minoxidill and I drank the same amount

I think drinking water will reduce the dizziness and the feeling of being bloated. Headache is one of the first signs of dehydration. Try drinking more and see if it affects you in any positive way

Hello,

You could do a few things:

1) Switch brands (such as Rogaine).
2) Use only once per day, the half life is 22hrs and Minoxidil is effective at just once per day.
3) Use on dry hair and scalp.
4) Reduce the amount (though it seems like you are already using a small amount---I got through 3 bottles a month because I use a lot...)

Hey,
1.Do u think switiching brand will do any difference? I mean they both have the same ingredient.. minoxidill 5%...
4. Are you sure about it? Because even on their paper and manual it says "use twice a day". Are u sure the lifetime is 22 hours?
3. Thats a good advice cuz at night I use on wet scalp because I read somewhere it will help the foam to get better to the scalp..
4. Omg man haha thats ALOT ! 3 bottles a month you're crazy!
I would die!
Im using half a capful each time.. like they say in the manual

Once a day is only effective if it's twice the dosage.

Minoxidil stops working, and that's true even with
animal models.

No dermarolling = NO HAIR!

1) I do not know...it may be the delivery of Minoxidil that is causing head aches. I feel a little 'light headed' but it passes quickly. When I first started the foam I had low blood pressure the first two days after switching from liquid to foam which tells me foam could be more absorbable.

2) It is indeed suggested to use twice per day but once per day is effective as well. I usually only use it once per day as I do not like applying it before work. The serum/oral half life is pretty short but topical is much higher.

I definitely think derma rolling is helpful along with intense massage to help keep the scalp skin from fibrosis/unhealthy scalp remodeling which I think it is a big part in losing hair.

It definitely is. One of the board members of Follica has the
first study published.

The study is 100% about men with androgen alopecia not
making gains with Minoxidil, and making significant gains (one was 62% higher)
with a dermaroller.

This was a published scientific study.

Minoxidil fails when used by itself. Even in animal studies this is true.

However, with 1.5 mm dermarolling, and 5% Minoxidil, a huge
percentage of people gained their hair back.

I know what study you are referring to. I also know that nobody seems to make such gains as that study had and there were some questions regarding the validity of the people doing the study. I think there needs to be more studies in addition to that one to really see if derma rolling is as good as that study showed. Kind of like caffeine, the whole caffeine treatment is based on one study and there was some connection to the makers of Alpecin, the caffeine shampoo. There are a lot of dishonest people in the world. Especially in the hair loss industry.

Also Minoxidil alone DOES work.

That's the published study.

Minoxidil works temporarily, that's true. But most guys I know, it stopped working
after five years max. And there baldness returned.

That is the unfortunate truth.

The different in the study is huge.

We are talking about 91% (Microneedling + 5% Minoxidil), versus 22% gain (Minoxidil alone).

Minoxidil is a growth agent.

Believe me, I used to be the same as you. I felt every one could benefit from it.

I was wrong.

Right, this is the only study I could fine with microneedling and Minoxidil. Everyone jumped on the bandwagon after this study and nobody seemed to get results like these. There needs to be more studies to say for sure the microneedling causes such a large increase in response.

Hey guys I woke up like new when I waited long enough after shower and only then applied the foam.
Maybe it really was a wet scalp problem.
I'll keep updating.
