Recently I've been getting insane inflammation from a compounded minoxidil that I use. It literally burns away my hair. I talked to the compounding pharmacy and we agreed that it was most likely the PG in it that caused the irritation. The pharmacy offered to change the PG to DMI, and claimed that it will solve the irritation and will not have any negative impact on the effectiveness of the topical, and that this has been used on patients for a long time.

I know glycerin has been a popular alternative to PG as a solvent in minoxidil topicals. DMI, I am not so sure. A quick google says DMI is known for less irritation, better penetration, and making the solution less viscous. Does anyone have experiences with DMI based minoxidil?
