MINOXIDIL twice/day v MINOXIDIL & REVIVOGEN once each/da

G’day All

I was going to post this in the Minoxidil forum but actually think it is more of a General question. SO, if the title of my post is not self-evident:

Would it be better for me to move from using Minoxidil 5% once/day at night to using Minoxidil 5% twice per day OR to try using Minoxidil 5% in the mornings and Revivogen at night each day?

I’ve been using finasteride and Minoxidil for 3 years now but have only really ever used Minoxidil once/day each night. I’m now looking for a bit of a boost.

While Minoxidil has its FDA approved regrowth properties, Revivogen allegedly has the benefit of topical DHT / 5-AR inhibition (as well as some purported regrowth properties). Perhaps there is the possibility of using them both at night one after the other, like I do with Minoxidil and Cu peptides?

Your thoughts please? I’d be particularly interested in hearing from HairLossTalk.com and the like who are regular Revivogen users…

Cheers

Re: MINOXIDIL twice/day v MINOXIDIL & REVIVOGEN once eac

The only way we could know is if you had a clone and we gave each of you the different regimens to find out what happened.

If you want to add something, I'd take the minoxidil as directed...2X/day. While the copper peptide stuff has shown some promise, it isn't proven conclusively to be more effective than minoxidil. Believe me, the copper peptide stuff has been around for years with little furthering of effectiveness proof - I once ordered some crap called "Iamin" that was touted as the next huge male pattern baldness breakthrough back in the mid 90s. Ten years later, you don't hear about it, nor Revivogen, in serious before/after discussions. That's not to say it doesn't have some beneficial effect in some people, but it certainly doesn't have the track record or data of some other things.

If I was hell-bent on making an addition, I'd certainly be using the minoxidil as directed on the box. If you're comfortable with your current results, though, that's all that matters.

Thanks for the reply, Hairwegoagain.

Certainly, I am happy with the fact that I have pretty much maintained my hair for the past 3 years. However, I still have a thin patch on my crown which is particularly noticeable after a haircut. At this juncture, I would like to see if I can recover my hair further – my male pattern baldness is likely still progressing, albeit slower – and I want to stave this off for as long as possible. Hopefully until HM or the like becomes commercially available or I no longer care.

Am I right in thinking the primary “active ingredientâ€￾ in Revivogen is Azelaic acid? Perhaps I would be best off going for something like Dr Lee’s Minoxidil with Azelaic acid for my morning applications?

So anyway, I guess that’s one vote for upping the Minoxidil to twice per day…

A good question. I think either going minoxidil 5% twice per day or using minoxidil 5% once and revivogen at night would both be helpful. Adding revivogen may *prevent hair loss better*. Adding minoxidil twice may *stimulate more growth*.
The money ingredient in revivogen is the fatty acids. It contains azelaic acid also but I don't put much stock in that crap (the AA).
I wouldn't go with Dr. Lee's minoxidil...I don't think it's cost effective. Stick with the generic 5% minoxidil. The only benefit to Dr. Lee's stuff is that he has a version that's supposed to be easier on your scalp if regular minoxidil makes you itch.

Cheers fifty.

I guess the essence of my question, then, is this:

Should I be trying to add a topical agent to block/reduce scalp DHT or should I be trying to add a topical regrowth agent?

I notice the “GenHairâ€￾ site has some topical Finasteride potions too…

S’all too much!!

well, it seems like since you've maintained and are now looking for more regrowth, you should probably double your minoxidil. When i do my morning application I simply get up put it on, let it dry for a half hour or so, then throw on a hat and go to work.

Around 10 AM or so I go to the bathroom and rinse my hair out. Nobody seems to care that I wear a hat for a few hours in the morning at work. Of course, its winter here, so i imagine it's summer in australia.

Another vote here for 2 x 5% daily.

Or maybe stick to once-daily, but bump up to a 12.5% or 15% like Xandrox.

First option is cheaper though if you get Kirkland's minoxidil cheap off the net, like hairlosswatch.com

You've maintained well, and I hazard to guess the boost in applications or the boost in doasage strength might give you that extra kick you want/need.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

I'll be sourcing some quick drying Minoxidil and applying the stuff in twice a day as soon as i receive it.

Any comments from Revivogen users with results (there appear to be tonnes on the Revivogen site!) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again
