Minoxidil thinning issue

Is there anything in minoxidil that could cause the area it's put on to bald faster? I've been using it on my crown and my right temple for almost a year now and even though I started as a nw1 but a bald spot now I'm a nw2.5-3 but only on the side where i applied the minoxidil. The other side is strong with no signs of hair loss what so ever. I started taking finasteride 2 months ago too and that doesn't seem to have made a difference. Crown hasn't improved either although I don't think it's got worse.

Is it possible it's happened due to an allergic reaction or something too?

I thought that it might be because more DHT was being drawn to my scalp with minoxidil since i wasn't using finasteride for most of the period iv'e been using it but people on here dismissed that "because it worked for them" well if it isn't that then why is the area I'm applying minoxidil to gone and stayed mostly gone after 7 months. when i was a nw1 on my hairline?

Yeah i got that now, So why did my hairline go so fast only where i applied minoxidil? Is it cause increased blood flow = more dht? if not then what was it? Like i said the side of my hairline which i didn't apply minoxidil too is strong. Is it safe to continue to use minoxidil on my hairline now that I'm on finasteride?

I deleted my base pics from this time last year, I remember people questioning whether i had male pattern baldness or not because my hairline was fine, Some said i had a bald spot swirl some said i had male pattern baldness so i got on minoxidil for growth on my crown and tested it as a preventive on one side of my hairline, Now that side of the hairline is gone while the untreated side is still strong. I'm not looking for sympathy or anything like that because it's not productive. I'm looking for a reason as to why this has occurred so i can possibly regrow and or prevent any further loss.

If increased blood flow doesn't mean more DHT getting to the hair if you're not on finasteride then I don't know an explanation as to why this happened

I've been using minoxidil 2 % for about a half year, switched to 5 % once a day. I can see little hair,but they're so thin. How do regrowths look like, are they thin and do they have to go through some cycles to get thicker?

Are you on finasteride too? If my hypothesis is correct, it might be the smart choice.

You seem to be confused a bit about how minoxidil works. Minoxidil removes the constriction from the DHT on your hair receptors, so that it's fed by blood. Theoretically, it would be extremely weird if minoxidil would actually cause you to lose more hair or recede further.

And Fena2000, minoxidil removes the constriction hence the thinning hair starts expanding. The hair itself gets broader and broader, regardless of the life cycle, when it comes to new hair (vellus hairs). The less the constriction, the broader the hair itself is, hence it keeps growing from there. if you experience a minoxidil shed, then it's working. The hair itself is ejected by the follicle and would be replaced by a thicker hair. That's the jest of it.

DHT is carried to your hair folicles by your blood so wouldn't that therefore mean that more DHT is getting to your hair?

I think it depends on how much DHT you're producing as well and how strong your male pattern baldness is. Some who's male pattern baldness is slow might benefit from Minoxidil alone as the minoxidil effects outweight the increased DHT while in others it doesn't. I'm still bloody sure this is a reasonable hypothesis that more blood to the folicles = more dht as well.
