The Rogaine foam clinical trials showed regrowth in 85% of patients. Although when people talk about minoxidil on these forums they mention effectiveness ranging from 30% - 50%. Some say the liquid worked better than foam for them and some say foam worked better than liquid. The liquid I've read has better penetration and it's easier to get on the scalp too, so I don't know. What do you guys think?
I think that when the heat of the scalp melts the foam it becomes the liquid basically... The liquid might stay on the scalp longer due to the PG, but PG may irritate some people's skin, as it did mine. I think if you lightly dermaroll and use the 5% foam (or apply it after shower when scalp is still wet) it's basically the same thing. Some of the liquid formulas may have retinoic acid or azelaic acid in it which can also improve it's efficiency, BUT can be irritating or damaging over time. I suppose it's all about trying different things and seeing what works as an individual.
@k9gatton - has experimented with different formulations and knows a lot of minoxidil. What ya think K9?
