Hi

I have some questions about minoxidil ...

3 Months ago , i started propecia but gave up because of side effects. :freaked2:

So i started to take minoxidil 5% twice a day. I see great results with minoxidil !! A lot of hairs are growing (after 3 weeks of shedding) ! So at the moment , im quite happy.

A week ago , i decided to try propecia again but only 0.5 mg/a day + minoxidil 5% twice a day.

BTW i'm 2A on Norwood Scale and i'm 23 years old.

My question : it is necessary to take both minoxidil and propocia for me ? Is minoxidil alone effective ?

I think minoxidil+propecia at the same time is some kind of "last ressort" or "big gun" and i wonder if i should use it ....

I need advice !!

:?

thx in advance !

There are topical alternatives to Finasteride/Propecia, but keep in mind that unlike Finasteride, these alternatives have not been blessed by the FDA to be able to make the claim that they regrow hair.

You could swap out your Minoxidil for Xandrox, which contains minoxidil plus Azelaic Acid which is shown to have some success at suppressing DHT synthesis on the scalp. The other alternative is Spirolactonone, which is a topical you apply in addition to Minoxidil. It has been shown to not only supress DHT synthesis in the scalp, but it also competes with the DHT to attach to androgen receptors on the hair follicles... receptors from which the DHT begins its attack on your bald *** hair. The down side of spironolactone is that it has a very distinct odor.

I suggest checking out the "Mens Hair Products" message board in this forum and read up on them.
