Hey Guys,
I'm 21 and I still have okay-hair, but it's been getting thin since a year or so, and at the back ("vertex"?) of my scalp, the hair is getting noticably less. I'm obviously new to the topic, as I've decided just currently to do something preventive to keep my hair as it is.

I actually have two questions

1. Is it true, that Minoxidil will only help at the vertex of my scalp? My hair is getting generally thinner, and I'm also loosing hair at the hairline; will Minoxidil be useless for that?

2. This website sells generic propecia / finasteride without any prescription to the US and Europe (I'm European) - I've called the support, and they said that that's legal. But normally you do need a prescription, right?
I'd like to know your opinion on this: Would you just get finasteride without having talked to a doctor before? I have not consulted any physician on my hair, yet.
[edit:] that's the website I'm talking about:

Thanks!!
Flo.

Kay, sorry for the link, didn't want to spam :D

Generally, I'm more interested in Minoxidil, since it's cheaper and is topical, but officially it only works for the vertex area of my scalp, which is not enough for me.
I'd like to know what you guys have experienced concerning an improvement of general thickness of hair and less hairloss on the hairline (temples) with minoxidil.

Thanks!

No worries, I did not think you were spamming. I got my best results from minoxidil and buy the generic which IMO works as good as Rogaine. I get mine from the Club stores (Sam's)

Thanks. So minoxidil helped you for your whole scalp, also the front and sides? I'm from Europe, no Sam's Club around over here ;-).

minoxidil I can get cheaply from a German online pharmacy, but Finasteride is up to three times as expensive as in US online pharmacies.. and that might be a pain in the ***, considering that I'd have to deal with customs over here.

Anyway.. still waiting for details on where and how exactly minoxidil helps!

I'm curious as well does Minoxidil work all over the scalp or only on the vertex. Some light on the issue would be tremendously helpful thanks.

doctors arnt gods. finasteride will not turn you into a ogre or a fairy:). if you dont want to go to a doctor and have no medical problems, are on no medication id say just go for it. the chances are the old fuddy duddy doctor wont even know what propecia is. If you get sides u cant handle after a month stop using it.

As for generic, get legit finasteride and it will work just the same as propecia. most of the guys here use inhouse pharmacy.

get finasteride as cheap as u can, personally i use fincar and split it. iv also used propecia, finpecia. same results on all.

As for minoxidil, it will grow hair everywhere if u respond well to it, the hairline is the hardest.

good luck to you sir.
