Minoxidil On Recipient Area? A New Thing?

Hi

I had 3000 FUE about 3 years ago and was generally happy. At the time it wasn't mentioned or discussed about using Minoxidil in the recipient area.

I have used Minoxidil on my crown for many years and still have a full head of hair at the back,

I recently had a complimentary touch up as was advised that Minoxidil might be a good idea on the recipient area after a month.

Is this a new thing as it wasn't advised before? Do many Surgeons recommend it? I use the foam at the back and although I don't mind using it, I do find it a bit of a pain as it can leave my hair a bit flat and greasy so I am not sure I want to commit to twice a day at the front as well.

Any views or thoughts?

Thanks

I have also been advised to start Minoxidil after 2 weeks post-op (currently 3 days), my surgeon says it could help decrease the initial transplant shedding + maintain other hair susceptible to DHT. (30F)
