Minoxidil foam on my hairline

Hi everyone, is there anyone who has filled in or stopped temple hair with foam? Been on the foam since september, and it appears that my temples have receded faster on foam recently, the only place I apply the it.
Is this a shed, or just male pattern baldness progressing because I never experienced a big shed before at the hairline.

I am worried that this will happen to me, I just started a week ago. Maybe your original hair will come back if you stopped using rogaine? I'd hang in awhile longer to see if new hair grows, if not then...

You bet it is. The worst part is probably treating it. It seems that some of the treatments screw us over more so than if we had done them in the first place. Recently I too have noticed my hairline, the only place I apply foam, getting worse. Of course our minds are known to play tricks on us especially when we are anxious for quick results.

My suggestions is that we both continue our dosage, mine is a 3 month supply. I am hoping that a lot of the weak/dying hair I had has fallen out from the foam and new, healthy hair is just around the corner...I'm really not sure how this works on us receders.

Hi there

I'm not an expert but being on and off rogaine for two years, I can honestly say:

If you're shedding after the application, that means "something" is going on, that is you're responding to the treatment. So just keep on applying regularly.

And one more thing, I know it is not easy but stop looking at the mirror 10+ times a day. That way you lose awarnes on your hair count / hairline. Instead,
get a good camera and take regular shots on the same place, same angle, same lighting, same hair length etc. Do not trust your eyes. Changes that can be
caught with your eyes happen in more than a year and that's a very long term to realize the difference.

Best regards

Have you seen StrangeKarma's thread? http://www.hairlosstalk.com/interact/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=44412&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

These are numbers I'm pulling from the air, but based on studies I read I'd break it down like this:

20% of users - Amazing responders, moderate/thick regrowth anywhere minoxidil is applied
40% of users - Minimal regrowth/maintenance
40% of users - No effect whatsoever

I'd say get off the foam, and get on the liquid.

Yes, it's a bit more messy and inconvenient to apply but the results seem to be more consistent.

The trouble with foam is, if it works for your then your sailing. However if it's NOT working (which there seems to be a hell of a lot people which it DOESN'T work for) then your going to be losing a lot more hair which will be more difficult and take longer to regrow.

I'm a long term user of Rogaine. I got decent results with the liquid for about 3-4 years.. switched to the foam a couple of years ago and it has completely eaten away at my hairline.. Now I have had to revert back to the liquid which hopefully regrow what I have lost.

I'd also suggest you do a lot of digging on other forums too (do a search on Google) regarding users feedback on the Foam and then draw your own conlusions.

Thanks for the responses. I have used liquid before, but hated using it before going out because it made my hair a greasy oil slick. The foam makes my hair far easier to style. Yay.

I wouldnt expect anything more than maintaince for the hairline with foam. Ive had some mild success. But it seems to vary from month to month...who knows. Its worth a try, especially if you're going to bald anyway.

i've gotten the hairline thicker in 3 months. it's covered with vellus hairs so much that it covers the thinning.

also some of the vellus hairs have gotten darker and kinda 'pulls' my hairline and temples down.

not sure where this will go, could either all shed out or come back thicker...but i'm thinking positive..cause i must :)

Its good your positive, im like that too :) Im going through a really bad patch again with my hairline, but I just keep applying the minoxidil and try not to think about it. Ive had a terrible diet lately, so im trying to rectify that now and hit the gym again. Because my hair never looked so good when i was eating well and hitting the gym.
