In studies with 5% Minoxidil Extra Strength Topical Solution for Men, hair regrowth has not been shown to last longer than 48 weeks of continuous treatment in large clinical studies.

Thats what it says on this site: http://www.minoxidil direct.com/Minoxidil_International.htm

Is this true?

Then theres no point i continue taking minoxidil :dunno:

I've been on minoxidil for 3 months with good results and now i hear this!

well what do you expect?

Regrowth to continue forever?

Clearly after the 11 months so far as regrowth is concerned you've got all you'll get. Stands to reason really.

You still need to keep taking minoxidil to maintain any other the prior regrowth achieved however....

Minoxidil can grow hair for longer than 11 months. It says that because the study lasted 48 weeks and they stopped observing and therefore couldn't make any more statements regarding it's efficacy after that point.

Isn't minoxidil primarily for stopping further hair loss and secondly aiding regrowth? If your wanting more regrowth then why not include Finasteride if your noticing that the Minoxidil is becoming less effective?

People are using minoxidil for 5-6 years with good results.
There is a guy on this forum who has been using minoxidil for around 25 years!

Hey, I just mentioned that statement in another thread, and now you've brought it up again for us. I'm glad you did that! :)

Yes.

The point, of course, is that all minoxidil does is provide an extra "offset of growth". It doesn't interfere with the fundamental balding process, so balding continues, even if you continue to use minoxidil. Haircounts will continue to gradually decline (or, more specifically, continue to follow your basic genetic predisposition toward balding), even as you're using it.

The truth is that minoxidil never stops working but as hairloss gets more aggressive people think that monox lost its potency which is not the case.
